can anyone guide me in simple terms how to get my traktor s4 work with vdj

"Original S4 (not MKII) is not supported for a reason: It's MIDI resolution of jogs (among other things) is very poor. Also it's the only NI console that's not using HID protocol, but a HID-alike proprietary protocol. Therefore it's not up to our standards to include it as a native supported controller."

This is from VDJ forum, i can not be sure how true it is or if there are any alternatives...

But... why use VDJ if you can have Traktor? ;-)

It sounds like you will have to create a Definition and Mapper files for that controller. Definitely use it with Traktor.

Absolutely yes! Off course this is a matter of choice... some people prefer this, some others something else... i can not decide for you, but since i have played with different software, i find Traktor more close to my needs and taste...

and it sounds more reasonable and compatible, since you have a Traktor controller! ;-)

Be aware that if one of the reason you use Virtual DJ is its real time stems separation, Traktor doesn’t have it
