Please disconnect your controller and use the cursor to see if it is an issue with the controller or your Traktor installation.

you are correct. when i disconnected the USB, the crossfader worked perfectly. Deck A plays on A and Deck B on B as it should. when i select external output on Tracktor, Deck A assigned to output 1 works but deck B output 2 does not work. i have to use output 3 but this only works in external mode

Ahh, ok. Try following settings for external setting:

Output 1 is deck A right channel, output 2 is deck A left channel.

Output 3 is deck B right channel, output 4 is deck B left channel.

As we are talking about stereo channels, there are always 2 outputs (left and right) for each deck.

yes I'm going to use that for now so i can at least play in the interim but unfortunately i cannot record in external mode. at least i know now that it's the controller and not Traktor. I will send my controller for repair. I really appreciate your time and expertise. this cleared a lot of my questions!

I don´t think your controller is damaged. We just have to configure it correctly. Give me some minutes to read into the controllers audio interface specs.

I assume your controller works now as intended.

To record your set, go to traktor´s preferences -> MixRecorder:

Select External (because the sound and mixing is proceeded on your DDJSZ). Now, you should be able to select an input source (something like "rec out" or channels 9/10). In case there are more options, post a screenshot of the possibilities.

I forgot (in my post before), you have to set the record channel first before being able to select InputSource. So, step by step:

First go into preferences -> INPUT Routing: Set "Input FX Send (EXT)" to channels 9 and 10 (for left and right).

Now go to MixRecorder, select EXTERNAL and choose "Input FX Send (EXT)" as InputSource.

You should be able to record your sets in Traktor now.

this option actually worked! however its only coming out of the left channel and not the right. I think because the left channel says mono. When i listen to the recording it sounds a little like an echo. Im going to try again and see but i also loose some of the effects like slicer.

disregard the slicer issue that was a setting i forgot to add back
