KOMPLETE KONTROL can't load in Logic Pro X
Hi all!
I get an error message when I try to open Komplete Kontrol in Logic Pro X.
It says something like "An Audio Unit plug-in reported a problem which might cause the system to become unstable. Please quit and restart Logic Pro."
And I get the option to Quit Logic or Recover.
Before this I got a black square that said Komplete Kontrol but there were no parameters/info or anything.
I've just switched Mac from Imac 2017 to Mac Mini M2 Pro.
I've tried giving full disk access and also deleted some plist files etc.
Any ideas?
Thanks for reading,
Dan

Is your Logic up-to-date? - that bug was fixed in the last version
If not try turning off MIDI 2 support in settings but after the last Logic update you shouldn't have to any more

Thanks!
It's up to date and I don't have the MIDI 2 support on.
Any other ideas?
Thanks

Sorry no, that doesn't happen for me on a very similar system and like I said there was a bug that caused this behaviour but it was fixed, must be something else going on but I'm not sure what. Is it generating a crash report? If not you could try a force quit and see if that does and send it to NI support

Thank you!
No crash report but the report above I got from the scan.

I suppose you could try it with MIDI 2 turned on now?

Thanks! Gave it a try now but didn't work.

Sorry, tbh I didn’t think it would but it was worth a try

Thanks for trying though 👍🏻

@Dingbat McLure What version of Logic are you using? Is it happening in Logic in Rosetta mode, in ARM mode, both?
Can you open Komplete Kontrol in standalone? Does it work normally?
Can you try these steps? My Native Instruments Plug-in Fails Validation in Logic Pro

FWIW, I had the same problem and nothing fixed it but importing the project's content in a new project made with the latest version of Logic Pro. With the new project, everything was fine.

Thanks for the reply!
I'd never heard of Rosetta until about 5 minutes ago so never tried that.
I just got my new Mac Mini M2 Pro yesterday and now when I open a project with Komplete in it there are no sounds loaded and when I try to load a sound it says some stuff might not yet be compatible.
I don't know what ARM mode is.
Never in my life opened KK in standalone so I don't know.
What should I do?
Thanks

Yeah I'm thinking maybe I must unpack my old imac again and export all 100+ tracks as audio into a new project and wait for the solution to no sounds loading in KK on my new computer?!
Thanks

@Dingbat McLure Ok, so to make it short. In November 2020 Apple switched from Intel chips to Apple Silicon processors (also known as M1/M2 or ARM), forcing every software company to rewrite their code to be able to run on the new architecture. For some of the old software that have been discontinued or can not run on this new architecture natively for other reasons, there is a Rosetta mode that allows your Apple Silicon computer to run old school Intel programs.
Enough for the history, the solution is fairly simple. If you have older projects that were made on an Intel Mac and you want to open them, you need to open Logic in Rosetta mode, as explained here: How to Open Your DAW Using Rosetta
Also depending on what operating system you were using before there might be programs that are not 100% compatible with the operating system of your new computer. You can check that on the manufacturer's site. For NI, it would be here: Compatibility of Native Instruments Products on macOS

Thanks for the brief history.
Now I'm running Logic in Rosetta mode and it works better but still there are issues with activating the NI plug-ins.
Some seem to work but Guitar Rig 5 doesn't re-activate even though I re-installed it.
Any tips on that?
Thanks

Yup, also an issue with older products and M1/M2 computers: GUITAR RIG 5, KONTAKT and SUPER 8 R2 Open as Demo Versions on Apple Silicon / M-Systems
