How to separate the audio from the headphones and speakers?

Dear All,

I bought the controller s2 for trying to mix and dj as a hobby. Currently I heard simultaneously both in the headphones and in the speakers that are connected (both the headphones and the speakers) to the controller.

How can I "separate" the sounds to I will hear in the headphones as the dj (working on the upcoming song in the mix) while the "audience" listens only to the speakers?

Thanks for the help!!! I'm helpless!!!

You have to check the audio routing in Traktor’s preferences (output monitor and output master).

And of course select which deck will be listened on the headphones on the controller

Is that "Traktor DJ 2"? It's not Traktor Pro 3. If you purchased and are using an S4 Mk3, then I would recommend you download Native Access and install Traktor Pro 3as your purchase includes a full a TP3 licence.

it is Traktor DJ 2 but the controller is Traktor S2 mk3.

Should I change to DJ 3 regardless?

I'm a beginner and as you probably noticed not to technical savy :(

S2 mk3 also comes with bundled Traktor Pro 3 license.

If you register the MK3 under your account, you’ll find TP3 ready to install in Native Access.

Yes, Pro 3 is better than DJ2, so I would install it

In any case your settings in DJ2 were correct. Are you sure you are selecting the right deck to listen in the headphones on the controller (phones cue buttons)? And have also a look at the headphone mix knob: moving it will let you hear only the “in preparation” deck or a blend with the playing one

Yes, I would definitely recommend Traktor Pro 3. Traktor DJ 2 hasn't been updated for over three years.

Thanks guys, I'm happy to say that I made some progress and now from deck A I hear on the headphones while deck B plays the speakers.

    I think we made it!!!

Thanks a lot for your help :)

Make sure you've got the crossfader and volume faders all set appropriately to play out on the speakers.

The manual has pretty good tutorials, and you could also find them on Youtube https://www.native-instruments.com/fileadmin/ni_media/downloads/manuals/traktor/TRAKTOR_KONTROL_S2_MK3_Manual_English_1218.pdf
