Native Access 3 Asking for Admin Password Every Startup on Mac
I am running Mac OS 13.2.1 (22D68), with Native Access Version 3.2.0 (3757095 / 1.10.0.0). Every time I start NA, I am prompted to enter my admin password for my Mac (not the NA password). That never used to happen with NA 1 (I never installed 2, skipped right to 3). Why is this? It's not a big hassle, but it sure is an ANNOYANCE!!!!

@iNate The OP specified in the thread and title it was a Mac issue. So please check these articles:
Native Access Error: "Please grant permission to NTK Daemon to install dependencies"
Native Access Freezes on “Installing Dependencies“ at Startup
And if it still happens get in touch with our specialists here: http://bit.ly/NIsupport_install

Hey Kevin, can you check the following?
- Open your Mac's System Preferences and click Security & Privacy.
- Under the Privacy tab, choose Full Disk Access from the side bar.
- Click the lock icon in the bottom left of the window and enter your Mac password.
- Ensure that Native Access appears in the list.
- If it does not appear in this list, click the + icon and add the following apps:
- Macintosh HD > Applications > Native Access
- Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > Native Instruments > NTK > NTKDaemon
- Once completed, click the lock icon again
Also make sure that the NTKDaemon is in the login items in your system preferences, under Users & Groups:
If it's not there, unlock and add it, you can find it here:
Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > Native Instruments > NTK > NTKDaemon

It's now doing this on Windows 11. Every boot up it's "Installing Dependencies" and popping up a UAC Prompt.
New since NA 3.2

@Jeremy_NI Your response to @iNate (and taking the Mac version link) seemed to have fixed my problem. Time will tell, but as long as it doesn't start back up, it's working as it should for now.

@Kevin Pledger Thanks for the feedback, that's actually really helpful, we'll include that in our troubleshooting steps for this specific issue. Can you tell me which article fixed it or did you apply both?

Aaaaand just like that, we are back to the same issue. Has been for about two weeks now.

On both Windows and macOS it is still installing dependencies almost every start-up. Maybe 1-in-20 startups it goes straight to the application. Every other time, it asks for authentication and does some setup... on both platforms.
All permissions are granted on macOS, and on Windows I have tried running it as Administrator in case something wasn't being installed properly, but the issue persists. I've tried reinstalling on both platforms.
I've also tried on multiple computers, and it behaves the same no matter where and how I run it.

@iNate That's interesting (and annoying too) that it happens on both platforms in your case. That might be interesting for our installation specialists for investigation, would you be so kind to contact them here and mention that to them? They might need some more info on your systems. http://bit.ly/NIsupport_install

Yes, I will do that shortly.

I'm also having this same issue on M1 Mac Studio (OS 13.3.1). NTKDaemon and Native Access have permissions granted. I get password prompt every time I launch Native Access (v3.4.0)!

To whoever is being affected by this issue - this appears to be a bug that we have not yet been able to reproduce in house. It is currently being investigated by the devs and we hope it will be resolved in an upcoming update.
Sorry to anyone that is affected by this!

I had this issue on an M1 Mac Studio (OS 13.3.1). NTKDaemon and Native Access had permissions granted. I got a password prompt every time I launched Native Access (v3.4.0).
Just to update that I resolved this issue by granting full disk access to ALL NI products. I think I must not have granted full disk access to one or two instruments, e.g. Kontakt 7 or Reaktor 6, and that this was causing the problem. So make sure to grant access to ALL NI products.
This may not be a bug, but just an oversight on the part of some users who don't realise they haven't granted disk access to ALL required NI products.

I have this problem. Full Access given to all NI, but still getting that password prompt every time. Also locating Spitfire Audio Loegria fails, “invalid path” but the path is correct.

Hi, You’ll need to post your OS and NI product versions. Also list all the NI products to which you’ve given full disk access.

I had some luck doing this a while back, but it didn't last long--much like the NTKDaemon / Native Access suggestion. At one point I even removed all NI products from the Full Disk Access list and the password prompt stopped, only for it to return later. My guess is that making changes solves the problem momentarily, before something (maybe macOS?) is reverting that change later on.
