Hello Community,

I use DAW Bitwig with Mini Mac M2.

The thing is, the function: Drag and Drop with Midi Files does not work.

I have made various attempts to get the midi files into Playbox Chord Window . Nothing works?

I have no Ideas what is wrong?

Is there a trick or special command?

It is now possible for me to bring the midi files into Playbox.

However, I have to make a detour.

(I also contacted Bitwig and described the problem. Bitwig suggested that I should try to drag the files into Playbox from the "Finder".)

And that works.

What still doesn't work is dragging the files directly from Bitwig Browser into the window?

Doesn't matter.

I don't want to deal with it any further.

It should be as easy as drag the midi chords into the chords page and drop it.

Thank you for sending the video. I know the video.
unfortunately it still doesn't work, even if I try the procedure as in the video. 
I can type every single note into Chords window, which works.
But you still can't just drag and drop a midi file into the chord window.
Now I don't know, is this a problem with Nativ instrument (Playbox), or a problem with DAW Bitwig?

Just to test it exactly the way you do it: is just dragging from a saved file in your computer that is not working or also the way Jeff is doing it (from Maschine)?

It is not possible to bring saved files from the computer into the Chord window.

I can bring the saved files on the computer into my DAW and other places - no problem.

But in the moment, when I bring the clicked mouse with the files into the window, nothing happens in the window.

When I go with mouse over a single chord, then appears over the chord a white sign: "DROP". So when I go over all single chords, in the end all chords have this white sign. But the chord stays the same. See the upload picture.

Ok. Now that you write things like this maybe I already know where the problem is.

Since you use the plural fileS… are you trying to drag and drop multiple single chord files? Because this is not possible.

You can drag and drop into Playbox a single file, which can contain multiple chords set up in a progression and the chords will be distributed into the different keys.

But if you are trying to import, i.e., 4 files that contain each one a single chord multi-selecting them and then dropping the 4 together , this can’t be done and it’s eventually material for a feature request (even if I don’t know if it would be possible: how could the program i.e. know what’s the order in which you want those chords to be put on the keys?)

You can try anyway to make a feature request for this, accepting the multi drag and drop will put those chords in the order they are in the file browser (usually alphabetical) and then move them after in the order you want it (or play them on the keys in the order you want them).

One request that could be more suitable is to ask them to allow at least to drag a single chord on a chosen column (a key), allowing at least to drag a chord on the first key and then drag another one on the second and so on (instead of substituting the whole set). @Jeremy_NI, could you pls forward these suggestions to the right people?

In any case, since usually Playbox will be used in some kind of DAW, at the moment the way to do this is to build the chord progression in it and then drag it into Playbox as a single file (the way Jef is doing it in the video)

Anyway…I tested it in Bitwig Studio and it is behaving exactly as I described: single file (with multiple chords or not) is working as expected, multiple files is not possible

I think this not the problem.

For example, I use the program scaler. with scaler I can create (for example) 4 chords. I now safe these files as a midi file (in Bitwig on my computer).

I can bring now this file without any problem and drag and drop into a track - no problem.

It is not possible to bring the file into the chord window? (I press before the "audition button") - no work.

No Chance - it does not work.

I can export the midi files from chord window Playbox to my tracks - no problem.

But can not bring (import) midi files into Playbox.

Since you named Scaler, did you try instead of saving the progression to use its drag and drop function directly into Playbox?
