9 years ago I did an electro bass song bass off the premise that AI would wipe out music creativity and only music the conglomerate choose to play ruined the world. Then a music savior came from space and broadcast original music and came under attack. But the attack failed and people were able to create and listen to whatever music they choose… 9 years ago!! https://youtu.be/2yaXioeBZl0

Should have skipped the whole thang asked generative AI how to get the T-Shirts instead or simply set a task to send T-Shirts to a specified address. Done 😎

Here is another AI generated story, that leads to think that AI encourages us against government 8)

"In a world where music is banned and musicians are hunted down, our protagonist, a struggling musician named Alex, is trying to make ends meet. Alex has been playing music since he was a child and it’s the only thing that brings him joy. He plays in secret and has to be careful not to get caught.

One day, Alex is discovered by the authorities and is forced to flee his home. He goes on the run and meets other musicians who are also trying to survive in this dystopian world. Together they form a band and start playing music in secret locations.

Their music becomes a symbol of hope for the people who are living in this oppressive society. They play songs that inspire people to fight back against the government and demand their freedom.

Alex and his band become famous throughout the land and their music inspires a revolution. The government tries to stop them but they can’t. The people have spoken and they want their music back.

In the end, Alex and his band are able to bring music back to the people and they live happily ever after."

Only time will tell if this is the scenario that is presented , it is possible that some things change and take another unexpected turn and that means that this contest was based on an idea that is not yet consolidated , and for that reason the variety of opinions is the main course to see where the music will go, remember that the AI itself can change many aspects, and the tools are there, you just need someone who knows how to use the tools well and the world of music changes completely, it is they might come out with a headset where brain waves create your music and a company sells that headset and today's hardware becomes obsolete

Interesting question. To avoid the dilemma, maybe AI-produced work should be considered a common property altogether, and cannot be copyrighted or sold?

Why would you go away from a brand that offers AI tools?

You don't have to use them.

That is true... A friend of mine recently introduced me to Kino. Were they considered underground and subversive at the time?

The new hardware to create music is a brain wave helmet, the hardware becomes obsolete with this new technology, the development with the evolution of music is not the one shown here because everything is changing and what is said here are theories of which some are and others will take another path

It will be laughable when we'll listen to identical pieces of music generated by the AI. Then copyright disputes will begin, at least until the AI intervenes directly to claim to itself (or himself/herself?) the accured royalties.

AI will be somehow useful to help (only a little help) in the music arrangement work, but as far as musical conception is concerned, it will be absolutely useless if not harmful.

To be fair, the rules didn't say that entries couldn't use ML tools. But it is a bit of a self-own that two of the three winning entries are about 80% the same text. =_=

What a lot of people don't understand about "AI" (at least what's being marketed under that label currently) is that it's just a statistical model that does exactly one thing, and those statistics are based almost entirely on its training data. So it's not surprising at all that AI generated text about the future of the music industry would just regurgitate popular talking points about things like cryptocurrency (🤢) that have little to do with the music industry.

On the flip side, ML models that are well-trained and well-designed are pretty good at synthesizing a problem domain that individuals haven't fully mastered. So stuff like iZotope and Captain tools are pretty useful if you need a boost to make something or finish something in the style of ..waves hands.. everything else.

Also, not a lawyer and stuff, but the courts have already started to render judgments on this stuff. The US copyright office rejected a registration claim not long ago because most of the work was AI generated. They said that such things are effectively public domain, and you have to have done significant derivative work for it to be meaningful.

Edit: adding my own short story take on the future of AI and music, courtesy of ChatGPT :)

Together, humans and AIs explored uncharted realms of composition, merging their unique perspectives and expertise. The AIs, equipped with vast knowledge and analytical capabilities, provided invaluable insights, suggesting novel melodies, harmonies, and experimental sounds. Human artists, fueled by their boundless passion and emotions, translated these suggestions into a tapestry of raw emotions and soul-stirring narratives. The result was music that transcended genres, touching the very core of human existence.

In this visionary world, music became an ethereal blend of human vulnerability and AI precision. Audiences marveled at the intricate fusion of organic and electronic elements, dancing to melodies that seemed to resonate deep within their souls. The collaboration between humans and AIs not only elevated the quality of music but also fostered a sense of unity and understanding. It was a testament to the boundless potential of collaboration, where humans and AIs complemented each other's strengths, enabling a musical journey that surpassed anything imaginable.

    @Milkman

if this brand begins to move more toward "AI" tools

NI has been already using AI for modeling gear in Guitar Rig 6, for few years...
