Morning all. Does anyone know if you can use fors opal in Maschine? I’ve asked the creators but not had an answer. I know it for max4live but just wondering if anyone had used it just with Maschine.

Did you not read the info on their website?

"Opal is a Max for Live device and requires Ableton Live Suite or the Max for Live addon, it does not work in any other DAW."

Yes that’s why I put i know it’s for Max for live. I just wondered if anyone had come up with a wrap so it can be used with Maschine. But thanks for your patronising response. I bet you’ve got lots of friends.

Eh? You "know it's for Max For Live"........but you're asking if it works on Maschine???

Max For Live is called that because it's for Ableton Live. There's no Max For Maschine (or as it says any other DAW).

Before Maschine was VST 3 someone wrote a wrap so vst3 would work. I was hoping someone had done the same with Opal and what ever programming language it uses. There’s no need to be such an ableton user about it.

I'm sorry, broseph, but dumb questions deserve patronizing responses. If it makes you feel ashamed of yourself: good. You should have known a Max4Live device wouldn't work in another DAW, and if you had some sort of intuition that there was a way to develop a wrapper or export the device as a VST, you should have used google to scour through FAQs & forums in order to gain more insight BEFORE you even came here to ask this question. The fact that you chose not to take these steps tends to baffle and enrage people, which is why they feel inclined to attack you personally.

I did scour google. But thought I would come and ask here seeing as it’s a Maschine forum for Maschine users. I wouldn’t say it was a dumb question as past experience tells me these things can be worked around. This is a forum where you ask for advice is it not 🤷‍♂️A simple no it can’t be done would have been enough. As it happens the very same person giving me grief posted a link to a possible solution. Now two people have decided to be tools about it, why on earth would I feel ashamed what a silly childish thing to write…

I've no idea. Entirely up to confield to investigate.

No, this won’t work, according to the Fors developer. RNBO doesn’t mean you can just turn any random Max patch into a VST plugin or whatever.

As of now, Fors plugins won’t work outside of (Max for) Live, but I really hope they’re working on changing that. All of their devices are a delight, and more people should have access to them.

@nanotable thank you at last a nice comment. Yes you’re right I hope one day they do venture into making it more available. With what I’ve seen it’s the closest piece of software to the digitakt.

I would expect that these 3 (only 3!) Fors people focus on development of new and maintenance of existing instruments but not on boring migrations to plugins.
