Mixing VST versions in project files

Just wondering, does it matter CPU and system resource wise if there is a mix of VST2 and VST3 3rd party plugins in same project? I assume it doesn't matter, but thought I would check. Has anyone analyzed performance the Maschine with different VST versions?

Mixing VST2 and VST3 shouldn't give you a performance penalty per se.

Some plugins might save a bit of CPU on the VST3 version if available since VST3 can disable itself when it does not detect any audio running thru it, idk if this is automatic or if it requires the plug dev to actually implement it tho... And of course, this only makes a difference if you have tracks that aren't constantly playing throughout the song.

I never made any direct benchmark comparisons tho
