How to make Battery remember sample locations?
Hi there,
I'm having an issue with Battery in one of my projects.
Basically, I had to switch systems in the middle of a project and now Battery keeps forgetting the location of samples every time I close the project, expecting them on my old machine. It asks me to locate the files which I can do successfully but then it just chooses to forget all about it the next time I open it, also forgetting all the output routing when it locates the files. I have tried resaving all kits as monoliths, but Battery just refuses to remember anything. Is there any way at all that I can make Battery remember the new file location, and if not, why would that not be the standard behavior in the first place?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, since this is making my life very difficult right now.
I'm on a 2020 M1 Mac mini and the project is running in Rosetta mode. DAW is Cubase Pro 12.
Many thanks

Hey there, it is a bug indeed, the bug is well known and is already being mentioned in this thread: https://community.native-instruments.com/discussion/2364/battery-4-wont-find-samples-on-the-same-drive-on-new-laptop#latest
We also published a Knowledge Base article with a workaround: I Can't Relocate Missing Samples in BATTERY 4.2.0
Feel free to comment in this thread and thanks for the links form KVR and Steinberg, I will forward them to the responsible teams.

Sounds like the same issue i'm experiencing: (i'm on Cubase 11 on Windows - maybe it's a Cubase issue?)
Here is the corresponding post in the Steinberg forum:
This is definitively not standard behavior there is something wrong with Battery and/or Cubase.

I also suspect it could have something to do with that combo. I didn't test it myself but other DAWs doesn't seem to have that issue. EvilDragon tested some other DAWs here: https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=8600202#p8600202

I know on windows you can avoid this, by always using the same drive letter and paths. I now use always drive f and the same path for all my libraries, samples and stuff on all PCs and installs. But on mac it seems different, we had one case here in the forum, where a user set all paths as they where before but it did not work, was also showing missing files popup.

Sure that will work of course. But that's not always an option. We are talking about a bug here. It did work until some update or might just be a problem with the VST3 version. What we are asking here was already working fine for years and is expected standard behaviour of any software.
