Can't set up monitor output
Hi,
total noob here, if that helps to better understand my question and answer it.
bought a 2nd hand traktor s2 yday.
using it on my desktop pc (no special soundcard)
my speakers are connected via the green PL connector in the back.
plugged my sony mdr v700 headphomes to the traktor controller.
my problem:
i can't assign the monitor to the headphones.
currently my speakers are both monitor and master, i do not have a separate option, or i'm not aware of one. attaching a screenshot of my output routing.
Monitor options:
Master options:
i really hope it can be solved.
Thanks,
Ben.

In Audio Setup you have to select your Traktor S2 as primary audio device.

Hi Lord-carlos, still no good.
Doing this only sends the music to the headphones that are plugged in the plate, but it's both master and monitor again...

How does your output routing now look after you changed to the s2?

when selecting this:
my output looks like this:
still, can't get the speakers to be master and headphones as monitor.
it all goes to the headphones (that are plugged to the plate)

Hi ....
if you use the PC speakers you must necessarily connect the headphones to another PC output (if provided)
If you want to connect headphones directly to the S2 controller, you must use the sound card of the controller and not the one of the PC.
In practice Traktor cannot use 2 sound cards at the same time ... either you use the one from the PC or the one from the controller
I hope I explained myself well despite my bad English

Hey, 1st off - your english is quite good.
second, this might be the explanation that will help me figure it out, at last.
plz tell me if i got you right: i have to use or the pc or the traktor for headphones and speakers - i can't use both. correct?
my pc doesn't have another output - how do i overcome this?
if i plug the headphones to the traktor - i must use the traktor speakers exit?
tnx in advance.

That's right ... you got it perfectly!
In my opinion to make better use of the controller you should connect active speakers to it.
Alternatively you would need a sound card that has the ability to manage Master and Monitor simultaneously ...
Another possibility would be to connect the master output of the controller (RCA cable) to an amplifier that drives the speakers.
Depending on what you will do, you will have to manage the audio configuration of traktor :
In the first and third case you will have to use the sound card of the controller .... in the second case you will have to use the one of the PC

Try setting the audio device to Traktor S2 ASIO rather than WASAPI. You should then see Master L/R and Monitor L/R outputs in the output routing page. That should let you send the main output the the RCA connectors and the monitor (cue) output to the headphones

I'm not sure the s2 has ASIO drivers.

I have an S2 MK3 and confirm that the ASIO drivers are there

Looks like the ASIO drivers aren't installed by default for the MK3 devices, although you can install them. Depends on which S2 controller the OP has.

I installed the drivers, but when selecting this option, i'm asked to connect an audio device? that got me fumbling for answers...

Thanks for the insights. i bought today a "U" shaped thingy - i believe it's called a headphone splitter - and plugged my speakers to one of the inputs and my headphone to the other input. i then selected on audio setup "mono" for both master and monitor, and assigned "L" to the monitor and "R" to the master, and i do get sound on speakers and headphones, but they aren't separated for some reason. if i play deck "A", and the cue deck "B", deck "B" is heard on the speakers as well as on the headphone. Gah this is frustrating. any thoughts?

Has Windows selected your S2 as the default audio device? That often messes up using ASIO drivers.

It hasn't... i'm trying both S2 and my onboard card (realtek) to see which one may work.
So far the onboard card manages to output sound to the headphones and speakers, although i can't split them up properly.
When using S2, i can only get sound if i plug my headphones in, as i haven't found the connector yet to plug my pc speakers to the RCA outputs in the plate.
