Difficulties getting Kontakt to work
I use Kontakt occasionally to add acoustic guitar and horn loops to my recordings. Because of the infrequent use it usually takes me about an hour to figure out how to get sound out of it. I have not found any way to contact support directly, so am looking for help in the Forum.
Today, after an hour fooling around trying to get audio and closing and reopening many times, I now get a messed up display of the GUI (image below) which does not accept any input. With 40+ years of IT experience (yes, starting long before PCs, cell phones, hard drives, etc., i.e. dinosaur days) I can usually figure things like this out quickly and rarely have to resort to customer support, manuals or forums, but Kontakt has always been the exception.
I presume I need to reinstall Kontakt to clear the mess shown in the screen dump below, but looking for any advice from experienced users. Thanks for any information.

Hey @BigJimDavis That can happen when the wrong driver or audio interface is chosen in the audio settings of Kontakt. Can you post a screenshot of your audio settings ?

In the Kontakt browser while looking at the NKI, click on the little down arrow to the right of "Instruments" and then <Open containing folder...>. This will take you to where the library was installed:
Then in the explorer window look for the resources files to make sure they are there and dated relatively newer than the others (mine is 1/4/2017):
The GUI presentation files are in the <filename.nkr>.
If not there, then a reinstall of the library may be necessary.

Jeremy,
Thanks for your response. The screen shot showing audio set up is below. The strange thing is Kontakt was working (audio was okay) for a few minutes before it stopped and the messed up GUI screen appeared.

Brad,
Thanks for your reply. I checked the GUI files as you suggested. There are a couple of files with 1/15 dates and all of the others are 12/14. I noted that some of the files you show on your list are 2017.

One additional comment. After reinstalling the acoustic guitar module I opened it up and autochords were already on, with white and black keys. When I clicked a key it turned red. Click again and its back to black/white.

The white/red behaviour is normal, red is just saying the note/chord is on and playing. After re-installing is the GUI back to normal?

This dialog shows audio engine as not running - if audio engine is not running, Kontakt's scripting engine also cannot work, which is why the GUI gets garbled. Your audio driver must be shown as running in order for everything to, well... run!
