Libraries not showing up in Kontakt (6.8.0)

I've always been using Kontakt 6.8.0 because that's how my sounds are saved.

Recently I installed Kontakt 8 Player from Native Access and I believe that had caused the problem somehow. And now I can't open up lots of projects without crashing in Logic Pro.

I'm finding that in standalone mode, Kontakt is missing a lot of my later purchased Instruments, that seemed to have caused the problem. It's only showing me products that I had from like the first bundle, and it was never like that before. I'm having Kontakt, Kontakt 7 and 8 opened at the same time, and as you can see from the picture, all instruments are there except for the follwing:

Analog Dreams , Butch Vig Drums, Cloud Supply, Ethereal Earth, Glaze, Horizon Keys, Hypha, Lo-Fi Glow, Modular Icons, Noire, Electric Sunburst Deluxe, Picked Acoustic, Stradivari Violin, Twenty Five

I had tried:

Reinstall Kontakt,

Delete Kontakt 8 (Then Intall it back),

Delete Kontakt (Then Intall it back),

Delete Native Access folder under /user/Share (That appears to be the solution for a different problem than what I'm having, but I tried it anyway),

Reinstall some missing instruments,

Give it full disk access,

Delete Kontakt folder and follow these steps (I'm not sure it's supposed to happen, but there isn't a Komplete.db3 file in there, and relaunching the standalone app doesn't seem like it's scanning anything, just pop right up the same way, I tried this for both paths, one from the user/Library and one that's just /Library, so there isn't a mistake there),

Rescan and update from the Database tab (By the way, the instruments folders are in there)

I really don't know what else to do, I want to open my projects and this has been very frustrating.

Please, if anybody can help! I already opened up a customer support ticket and in talks, it hasn't solved my problem so far either.

Those instruments all have updates that kill back compatibility with older versions of Kontakt. If you log into your NI account and go here you should find older versions of the libraries - https://www.native-instruments.com/en/account/downloads/

Uninstall the new versions, install one of the older ones and you should be able to open them in older versions of Kontakt. Unfortunately there's no compatibility info alongside the downloads, but K7 was released in October 2022 so versions older than that should work with K6

Thank you, but I'm not sure that's the case unless it's a very recent thing, because I've always kept my instrument library up to date, I wouldn't be using old versions of instruments that were from 2022, but the issue only appeared a couple of days before, it was fine up until then.

Also, the pattern I'm getting is, maybe if a product was from this bundle, it would still remain in the library, and other products outside the bundle won't be there.

Some of the above libraries had recent updates that make them fully compatible to Kontakt 8, but at the same time, they became incompatible with legacy versions such as Kontakt 6. Maybe this is the case with you? Did you updated any of those libraries recently?

Oh dear god, why would they make them incompatible with Kontakt 6, I had saved all my sounds with Kontakt 6. I wonder if this would be a temperary thing or a permanent change to stop supporting Kontakt 6?

I can't get to my sounds and save them on Kontakt 8 now that won't even load up.

I know some of the libraries won't be compatible with Kontakt 6, and I'm fine with that, but I'm not 100% sure if that's the case. Did Electric Sunburst Deluxe get this update, but not Strummed Acoustic 1-2? They are from the same serie. I do have strummed acoustic 1-2 in my library still, but not electric sunburst deluxe, which I mainly use

It is not "on purpose"…

Kontakt 8 is based on a very different technology (and this, is very common in the modern world), therefore, also the libraries has to be updated to include all latest options etc.

However, i must say, it is a very wrong policy to not inform your customers about that. "Hey, if you're on legacy versions, do not update your libraries!"…

So, what you can do?

First, go here:

and download any previous version you need!

Uninstall the newer version of your libraries and re-install the older ones.

After that, i strongly suggest you to update all your projects by replacing Kontakt 6 with Kontakt 8 everywhere. If you do not do that, in the future things will be much more difficult to resolve.

Then, finally, update your libraries to their latest version again, and stop using Kontakt 6 anymore…

NOTE: I also have the "3 Kontakts" but only the latest (8) is installed in my computer!
Not only there is absolutely no point to have 3 versions of the same thing in my computer, but i can tell you (after decades of experience in both fields: music and computers) that it can be potentially catastrophic on some cases…

Kontakt 6 was discontinued long ago. Like 2022.

However - Sunborn has laid it out well.

If you feel strongly about staying on Kontakt 6 - no problem. You will need to roll back every library that is exhibiting any issues - and then ensure you never use Native Access again to update ANY Kontakt libraries. Or you will end up right back in this situation.

Thank you very much! Yeah I'm going to try this. I'll report here if it's working.

Question though is there a easier method to update all projects that had Kontakt, or it can only be done manually?
