Been a loyal NI user (maschine, komplete, and Traktor) for nearly 20 years now, but your trying my patience. My list of grievances are probably well documented in the multiple discussions on these boards but I lack the time to read and research deeply; I just want a traktor that works intuitively more than it does now.
- I keep my whole collection on an external drive. I also save my settings there (mixer, layouts etc).
- Each time Traktor gets a version update, I get prompted to re-import my collection and despite saying yes, it defaults to an generic collection traktor insist on creating under my C drive documents folder. Every f-ing time!!!!!
- I then need to manually point to the collection on my drive and, god forbid, if it's not been backed up each time I make a change, it will NOT HOLD my collection metadata forcing me to re-do all the hours of work spent between updates making queue points, loops, and correcting tags. Come-on! I haven't used Serrato nor the other platforms but I can't imagine this is common between all DVS systems. FIX THIS..
- Make it stop autosaving to local C: documents whenever we manually choose an external drive. Have it autosave there instead, seems logical.
- Same goes for settings.. if we external storage users point to a settings forlder other than c: documents, have it automatically update that one..why is this so hard to understand?
- File not found, is the bane of my existance. No matter how well I save and even after fixing file locations (re-finding the file in traktor), it will still through up the file not found error nearly every damned time I open a file from my external source. I'm sure there is an explanation and you will provide a clever KB about what I'm doing wrong here, but I'll argue back.. I'm the customer, don't make me read your KBS and spend all day fixing something that you should have corrected years ago. When the collection points to an external location, that's where the F traktor needs to look for it going forward.. I'm not moving the files, traktor is just to dim to look in the place I told it to.
- Mixer?
- It's been what, 15 years now since the Z2? Is there something in the works? I've been patient watching all my serato peers go from one cool new toy to the next all with nice big buttons, and enhanced features that traktor has yet to do. Worse, those on serato just plug and play these features from their new mixers, yet I have to be programmer to figure out how to map my Z2 to any midi functions they have at the tip of their fingers out of the gate!
- And one last question.. who (assuming not a trick or scratch dj) thought reducing the size of the queue buttons on the newest controller was an improvement? Nice fat buttons on the older controllers, but now you need to have precise thin-tipped fingers to activate your queus, loops etc.. again, the opposite of what the now industry standard ranes, pioneers, and all other controllers and mixers are doing. We want big fat and fast buttons so we can trick and juggle like our peers on the other side of the house.
Now, back to my hours needed to re-locate most of my damned collection again thanks to version 4.3 wiping out all my changes since July.
