OK, so this is probaly not going to go over well on this forum, but Have you guys seen the MPC Live III that just came out??? I mean, new maschine hardware is painfully overdue. Any one have any insight?
A battery inside would be nice. Im praying, lol
I hope if and when they come out with a new line they of course do a new controller(MK4), a new M+, and a new pro model like a new Maschine Studio with full bells and whistles like those hybrid converters they have in the Roland TR 1000. It can also be standalone or connected to the PC. Powerful enough to run Kontakt libraries and 3rd party libraries. A full hub of your studio. I would definitely pay the extra mon-yon for a Maschine like that. They would eat Akai's lunch with a unit like that.🙏🏾🤞🏾
Please, no. Lithium batteries will put an expiration date on your gear, no matter how well you take care of it. Typically, after 10 years or so the chemical composition of the battery degrades and becomes volatile enough to spark a fire. Sometimes this happens a lot sooner. Unless NI are going to provide replacements & design the unit with an easy access panel for the battery so that we don't have to unscrew or desolder anything, I wouldn't want a battery in my groovebox.
I have devices way older than 10 years which batteries are not only not degraded, but they also still work.
But I agree anyway that the device should be designed to allow battery replacement.
Unluckily companies don’t do that anymore. The reason why is easy: they want to sell you new units, even if the one you have is still ok for you. Planned obsolescence is their weapon.
i really like the form factor of the current maschine+, but a new maschine studio with some juicy converters / sound would be an instant buy!
Personally, I owned a Maschine Studio (like any other Maschine model ever existed 😨) and I found it… just the wrong form factor…
Too big… and just to have a big flat wheel controller (nice, but not better than the 4d encoder we have now), a couple more buttons and 2 meters that I never watched.
At the time of its release, I bought it because it was the only one with some of the new features I desired (even only the new screens offering a way better experience than previous ones)… but as soon as MK3 came out, offering A LOT more (again… even only the built in audio interface was enough)… in the “right” form factor… and costing a lot less… Studio became obsolete (and unused) in just one week.
People see it and think it was the “flagship” (just because it was bigger and had a couple more accessible controls)… but… in my book it was just another of those “mid path” products that we bought just waiting for MK3, the real “everything I need” Maschine.
With the extreme joy of NI, succeeding in making us buy from them one more device…
loved the studio jog wheel
Lots of talk on converters, I think the M+ converters are pretty darn good. Do folks find them limiting?
it's not that they are bad, they are indeed just fine. but if you ever used a sampler with a slightly coloured sound that makes the sounds knock a little harder, it's hard to go back…
To each their own, but I prefer a clean sound that I can make dirty, rather than a dirty sound that I'm stuck with. 😎
Yeah… as I said it was nice.
But I didn’t love it enough (or more than the 4d encoder) to justify such a bigger (and almost not carryable… at least not “backpackable”) form factor practically only for that.
You can change the sample engine pre or post sampling. I think I’d rather clean converters too. Perhaps some nice JFET preamps in front with a touch of color but that is as far as I’d want them to go. Better to start off pristine then go from there in my book.
Mostly, when I sample I plug my Maschine into my desk’s sound card with a bunch of analog signal paths set up through comps, EQs, and preamps. All the analog color I want. Then I can change the digital color post. The 1200 and 60 models ain’t bad.
Let's make this interesting and place bets.
My money is on Q3/Q4 of next year, 2026 - Device: MK4, controller only.
With some new shiny stuff so we say: Wow, new stuff! 🤩
With some other stuff removed so we say: Wow NI, you removed stuff! 😡
i would also say Q3/Q4 next year. but my guess would be that they release the MK4 controller along with a standalone version. the hardware will be a minor/cosmetic upgrade with the new screen, new knobs and 4d encoder from the kontrol series, nothing revolutionary. slightly bigger (deeper) in size. the standalone will either have a new atom processor or something completely new…
2026 - MK4
Late 2027/early 2028 - (If the MK4 is successful) A new Maschine Pro standalone, with Internal replaceable battery (and extra batteries sold, with charger), or 16 AA batteries. Modular speaker option available for those that think they can make music with one as good as the can with headphones/wanting to listen to their latest creation with the car or smart speaker sound. NKS for playing your U-He, Arturia and other partners brands synths and effects wanting to get onboard.
