Updating and Installing

I am very disappointed in the way Native Instruments are doing things. I just updated Native Access and now it takes 5 hours to install an instrument and then the download fails. Number 2, I should be able to add another external hard drive to install these products without having to spend a grueling amount of time transferring libraries just to relocate.

This is ridiculous and time consuming. Native Instruments need to get it together.

Couple thoughts - if you are attempting to download these larger libraries via WiFI - that is an issue in of itself.

And NA - like every other Windows app - uses the Windows OS supplied installer service.

So that second message is suspect and indicates deeper issues beyond Native Access.

What kind of Windows hardware are you running on?

And more importantly - what is the Antivirus status on this device?

That supper lonnnngggggg startup has all the hallmarks of a background Microsoft Anti-Malware scan or similar.

That's not what he's asking. He's refering to the Windows Security app and disabling virus and threat protection to disable the Antimalware process which affects your download speed.

Because I just went through something similar recently because my motherboard crashed and took with it my primary C drive, I had to reconstruct basically everything in my Native Access going through a lot of what you're referring to. Although I wish it was a simpler process I'm not sure how it could be done. I was easily able to restore my libraries from a backup, but they all had to be re-linked. With 172 individual items that only took about a day's work as it was just a matter of repointing NA to link up with the existing physical location which took less than a minute for each one. Most of the time was spent figuring out where I had put all my libraries as I use a fair amount of external SSD storage.

If you relocate libraries outside of NA it has no idea that happened so you have to tell it where they are which takes only a few seconds, but NA provides facilities for relocating things without downloading, just moving from one drive to another for example. As far as download speeds that's highly dependent on the speed of your internet connection. I pay a bit more for a higher download speed for exactly this reason.

As far as the installer service failure, that's not even needed if you just move the the library and relink it.

Again, as I've stated, I disabled all of Windows security. This did not happen until I updated Native Access. I don't have the days to spend relocating everything. I'll figure out something. Thanks for your help.
