We have received updates for all Session Guitars with midi drag and drop and additional features. This is a great step forward!

The suggestion I'd like to make involves updating older, current and future libraries with MIDI drag and drop by default. For instance, instruments such as Mallet Flux, Cuba, Emotive Strings, Piano Colors, Sequis or Session Percussionist (it's a mystery why there's no MIDI drag and drop, it makes absolutely no sense), but also many other libraries that lack this feature.

So instead of releasing brand new libraries for Komplete bundles, why not focus on updating great, old libraries and make them more useful for the end users?

No one wants to use pre-programmed patterns all the time. Try uploading your song to YouTube and it will be taken down for copyright because hundreds of other musicians have already used that particular pattern. NI patterns go only so far.

Why not give the end user the ability to program their own patterns and drag and drop them into their DAW? It seems like we are given an instrument, but are only allowed to do so much with it, it's a limitation. I hope NI will start updating their older libraries.

Like the new updates for the Session Guitar Series (made by Drumasonic) - most (if not all) of the items you listed are actually made by third parties and not NI directly.

Any updates to a third party product - would have to be decided upon - by the third party.

Super old items like Mallet Flux (Sonuscore) , Cuba (eInstruments) etc - probably will never see an update now - whereas newer products like Piano Colors (Galaxy Instruments), Sequis (Orchestral Tools) and Session Percussionist (Drumasonic) - could still see something as long as those third party vendors want to make something happen.

I think the point is another one: new libraries bring new money, updating old ones doesn’t (since they seem allergic to the idea to make people pay a fair price for updating things).

The fact that the libraries are developed by third parties has nothing to do with it: NI commissioned them to develop, paying for it. In the same way they could pay to work on updates.

In facts, they just did it, since the Session Guitarists are also from third party. They paid Drumasonic and the company updated them

Unless you have very specific references to the actual source on who did what and who paid what - for all we know Drumasonic decided to add some new functionality and NI simply released these updates when ready.

Speculation is just that - speculation.

In my experience, workers do not decide to do things… like this… for free… without someone telling them to do it… just for the glory…

But I could be wrong…

But the point here is the old debate we already had multiple times about how those libraries are made.

So many times that I even asked Jeremy to confirm that those libraries are NI ones, that NI commissioned to external developers, paying for it. And Jeremy confirmed… but you just decided to ignore the thing, since it was not confirming YOUR speculations…

Apologies LIF - but I have never read that Jeremy confirmed anything. If he did - I can accept that.

Ideally tho - it would be better to hear from Drumasonic directly and get their side of the story on how these partnerships really work.

Highly likely that would ever happen - but one can always hope.

I found an old 2018 forum thread on vdrums.com that kind of makes it sound like Drumasonic is gone.

If that's correct, then whatever got fixed/added to these guitar libraries would have been done by "somebody" with the rights to do that type of work as laid out in whatever written agreements might have been left behind.

It could be possible that Native Instrument's corporate counsel was able to secure rights. Or maybe Drumasonic reached out as their ship was being pulled under the waves by the Krakken of Bankruptcy.

Who knows, and who cares; I'm just glad we get SOME updates to older sounds. Drag and Drop is as good a feature to add as any other I can think of.

"Drumasonic" - the actual (circa 2018) drum VST is long gone.

But the "Drumasonic" company - who develops the Sessions Series is alive and well here in 2025.
