why doesn't native instrument sell software packages that are discontinued and turn it into hardware

like for example the discontinued products can be continued through hardware. Stuff like FM8 etc…could have a hardware version.

It would require to still maintain the software and to build hardware around it. As you usually won't put a fully equipped Mac or Windows computer into such hardware you most likely have to port the software to the choosen hardware platform too. Or in short: Much more effort needed than just continuing maintaining the software.

Support is one thing but they should at least release the source code for these softwares so that they can be modded and made better rather than cutting it off to the public.

Rolland seems to release their stuff to the cloud so why can't these guys do the opposite?
