Kontakt/Komplete Kontrol - Black Box inside Logic Pro 11

Exactly as the title states, a Black Box appears when trying to load instruments into either Komplete Kontrol or Kontakt (7 and 8 player). The box is the same size as the loading popup screen and it appears once the instrument finishes loading. It's as though the loading screen just turns into this Black Box and once it appears I can no longer remove KK/Kontakt from the instrument, nor can I create any new instruments. The keyboard shortcuts also stop working. Basically I'm forced to quit Logic but Quit is also unavailable so I'm forced to "force quit" Logic which isn't great.

I've posted about this here before and didn't receive any replies but I'm trying again out of desperation. I've been on NI and Apple Support Calls for the last month and a half or so trying to pin point the source of this issue.

After two weeks or so of troubleshooting with NI, they said, "Well, it's only happening in Logic and not in Ableton or in the standalone app so you need to contact Apple."

Apple did very little troubleshooting on their end and basically just told me to setup a new admin user in Mac OS and then via some fancy terminal commands allowed me to access previous user info to copy over what I needed.

Anyway, that is a very short summary of what has been a very long and hair pulling process.

And despite all that, just this morning…it happened again on the new user account. I ordered a new Mac Studio last week and if I don't get this fixed by Sunday when it arrives my plan is to forego Mac Migration Assistant and create a completely new user, installing only the necessary software, one item at a time and testing every step of the way until I've found the culprit. Embarrassingly, I have a lot of plugins on my system (maybe 300? 😬) so this is bound to be a long and arduous process. There's probably some old software or preference file in there somewhere that's clogging up the system. Hard to know what it is.

Also I have a KK S88 MK3 but the issue is happening even when the keyboard is unplugged from the Mac so that is unlikely the issue?

Anyway, please have a look at the video if you have time and if you have any suggestions as to what it might be I'm all ears. Appreciated

Logic Pro 11.1.2 (but has been happening since at least 11.1.0)
MacBook Pro M2 15.4 (but was happening in 14.6.1 as well)
Kontakt/Komplete Kontrol (latest versions as of Apr 17, 2025)

Oh and my appologies to @ozan and @Jeremy_NI who commented on my last post. I must have had notifications from this site turned off.

Sounds like creating a new clean User Admin account is the only solution here 😭

Ok. Well, after having bought a new Mac Studio M4 recently and installed all the necessary software from download (i.e. not using Mac Migration), which seemed to have resolved this issues for some of the members here in the group, I am still having the Black Box issue.

I've spent a over 25 hours on Apple support hotlines, countless back and forth emails with NI, tried unplugging every device, and restarting, and uninstalling, and deleting Plist files, and creating new user accounts again and again…ALL to resolve this one, seemingly little issue, but it is a completely crippling issue. As soon as this Black Box appears I am forced to Force Quit Logic. Fortunately the project auto-saves but having to go through the force quit>restart + re-load instruments process every few times I change a patch (I'd say I get the Black Box on about every 5th patch change these days), completely destroys my flow. Plus, there's this looming sense that it's just a matter of time before it happens again which isn't exactly conducive to the vibe.

I've probably spent over $10,000 on NI products over the past 10 years or so, yeah, a highly invested user. In fact I recently purchased the Komplete 15 Ultimate Collector's Edition update and it was shortly after that I had my first issue with the Black Box on my new setup.

As of right now their software, as far as I'm concerned right now, IS COMPLETELY BROKEN. It is utterly useless in Logic Pro right now, a software they advertise as being complete compatibility with.

I'm not saying this issue is completely NI's fault either. Perhaps it is some sort of issue in Logic/Apple's code that is causing the problem. But if that is the case NI needs to take on the responsibility of representing their clients and taking this case to Apple themselves. A single user will have no effectively no sway in affecting any change at Apple. But a company like NI just might.

NI, please, for the sake of your customers who have invested in you for years (and will likely continue to pending this issue) please find the source of this issue. And if it is an Logic Pro based issue PLEASE take this case to Apple!

BTW it definitely seems to be some sort of cache based issue that worsens over time as the cache builds up. When I first started using KK/Kontakt (happening in both softwares) on my new setup it was working fine. It wasn't until about a month or so of use that the Black Box started to appear. Now it's back to appearing just as frequently as it was on my previous setup.

I sent NI an email about this last week. They have yet to reply…
