Missing Sample assistance

Hello - I am opening older songs I made and since being on a different computer than where the songs were created I am getting a Missing Sample pop up. However, there is so little space for seeing what is missing that its hard to even figure out what file is missing. Any ideas…?

    Did you try to click 'locate' to see if it then asks what to find ?

    IMO the issue not lack of display space, but too deep a folder structure.

    Your screenshot indicates that you used a sample which was inside a zipped file by Singomakers (Tropical Reaggetron) without even bother to unzip it first!

    Which is why you do not need to bother at all about the file anymore, since the whole process was wrong since the beginning...

    Best thing to do, is to unzip this file, if you still have it (Singomakers Full Zip), put the samples in one folder with proper name (aka Tropical Reggaetron or Singomakers, or both), delete the zip and then, use "Locate" in your missing sample pop-up and choose a sample of your choice, it doesn't have to be the same. 😉

    It has nothing to do with a lack of display space (in the sense of resolution or scaling), Maschine's windows have a fixed size, unfortunately.

    AFAIK, you cannot add samples that are inside Zip's to Maschine, at least not on MacOS, I'm guessing "Full Zip" was part of the .zip filename, and when extracted, the unzip utility made a folder with the same name.

    The 'easy' way to fix is to:

    • Open the project without the samples, look in your Pads for the missing sample icon (!), take note of the names (if you did dont rename your Pads then their name will be the same as the samples.wav)
    • Use the OS search tools to find them (CMD+Spacebar) quickly and go to that folder in Finder, or apps like EasyFind or FindAnyFile - (dedicated apps are better but might be slower). Once found, right-click and select "Reveal in Finder" and it will open Finder for you in the Folder location.
    • In Maschine, go to the Sampling Menu and click Locate where the audio waveform should be, drag the sample from the Finder Window from Step #2 into the Locate Window, and you're done.

    If all the samples are from the same pack you can now probably skip some of the above steps and just look for the Pad names that relate to Filenames.wav

    Selecting a random sample is not a solution for anyone that cares about their drum sound. I strongly advise OP to use the "Save With Samples" option in Maschine on every single project; it avoids future issues and gives you the option to organize and rename those horribly named folders.

    BTW…. Increasing the size of the missing sample dialog box was a pinned top request on the old forum, thats how many times this has came up, before people gave up on asking for QoL requests. I had a full guide on how to edit the size on the old forum too

    Thank for this information. I'm a developer myself so I was able to find where this file was. I've made the changes and granted myself access however the changes to the dialog box file did not take effect. Not sure why but it was worth a shot. UPDATE- the dialog box file is only available in Maschine 2 (M2) and not Maschine 3 (M3). The resources folder does not have that dialog…[.txt] file there. Thats pretty wack that this has come up from years ago and no fix. FYI, While working this issue I've also discovered that if I go to my music folder and try to open files created in M2 (before updating to M3) they open as a new project with nothing in them. You have to open M3 then go to open in the menu and locate the projects. NI should look into this. ugh…

    Up to 3.1.1 it's there, but editing it didn't change anything, so some things seem to have changed with Maschine 3, also, from v3.2.2 there is no more resource folder at all…

    I mentioned it here, no more hacking around 😢
