Why does it take 4 clicks to resize the Kontakt window

A simple search provides proof that it is not just me that is frustrated.
Users often express frustration with Native Instruments' Kontakt due to its outdated and complex user interface, which they feel is archaic and not in line with modern standards. The interface is criticized for its lack of intuitive design and organization, making it difficult for users to navigate and access features efficiently. Additionally, some users report compatibility issues when using Kontakt with other software or hardware, leading to further dissatisfaction.
Several users have suggested that the interface could benefit from a significant update to improve usability and functionality. However, the complexity of updating the interface without breaking compatibility with existing libraries poses a challenge for Native Instruments.
Some users have found workarounds or alternative solutions to address these issues. For example, one user reported that quitting and re-launching Kontakt resolved problems with corrupted user interfaces and broken keyswitches. Others have explored using alternative software or standalone products that offer more modern and intuitive interfaces.
Despite these frustrations, many users still rely on Kontakt for its powerful sound capabilities and extensive library support, even if they find the interface cumbersome.

Yes why would you need to be able to resize a window like every other piece of software on the planet?
And yes, I actually use the software for production on a mass scale.0 -
This:
"Say my resolution is 2560x1440 and I save a template in my daw and I move it to a computer with 1920x1080? When I open kontakt it is off the screen and the resize button is off the screen and you cannot resize it. 4 clicks to resize the window. On a template with say 200 to 400 instances of kontakt you should be able to do the math on how many clicks that is."
is not even close to a use case that anyone would code for or test for. Nor would any large contingent of the user base - ever encounter in a lifetime of Kontakt usage.
Now - this is not to imply that your issue is not valid - only to stipulate that if you are expecting Kontakt to somehow "magically resize itself" by knowing what your next destination resolution might be on an unknown destination machine - I am hoping you can see how that might be a bit of wishful thinking.
And even if it could somehow compensate - I believe this much more of a factor of the OS - which controls all window positioning, X/Y axis compliance and all the rest of graphic subsystem sizing jobs.
Given your use case - I would not be surprised if numerous VST out there gave you a bit of resizing hassle if you are making moves between computers (and resolutions) like that.
"If I am missing something please let me know otherwise make the window resizable like any windows application."
Respectfully - you are missing something. Kontakt is not designed to be used in any other resolution (currently) other than 1920x1080.
If you really want to make this all "just work" - fast - use 1920x1080 everywhere.

I also have this resolution 1920x1080 on my desktop, i am also on Windows and I do not have such problem (neither anyone else that i know of).
There is nothing "to be fixed" there!
I suggest to check your Windows graphics settings (maybe you are using scale 125% or more?)

"Kontakt is not designed to be used in any other resolution (currently) other than 1920x1080."
This is not correct.
Here's the view from my laptop with a 1366x768 resolution.

As you can see in this comment and the previous one, Kontakt is displaying fine, on 2 different computers and 2 very different resolutions, without even the need to resize it!
So, your problem is elsewhere.
Kontakt 8 is a brand new (also its code), state of the art software, trusted by thousands of professionals. It is not "archaic". Go and ask any professional. He might complain on few things, yes, but he will laugh a lot if you told him that "Kontakt is archaic".
Note: I am talking about Kontakt 8, not Kontakt 7!
Kontakt 7 has a bit "old feeling" but still, it is far from been archaic…___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Apologies on my terminology - yes 1366x768 was official known as "HD Ready" back in the day and has the same mathematic aspect ratio as Standard HD(1.77). So yes - it should display correctly.
However 1366x768 is circa 2012-ish and not commonly seen anymore. The industry had to pick a more comfortable standard and that is 1920x1080.
Best solution for the OP is to standardize all his sessions at a preferred (but consistent) resolution and this issue will become a non-issue.
Also wanted to mention that there is a chance the DAW "might" also be playing a role in this too.
Over here - with Studio One - all window positions in a typical session are managed by S1 and saved within the S1 settings and probably somewhere in the specific song file (or maybe even the registry as well).
I could see my sessions doing this exact same thing if I saved a session in a 2560x1440 resolution and then opened it on a different machine with 1920x1080. I would fully expect my windows to be way out of wack.
But it wouldn't be the fault of Kontakt.

Pretending a problem doesn't exist doesn't make it go away. You don't understand the problem obviously. So hard to make a window resizable from the top too like all other software. It is never a problem with Kontakt is it?

I agree Studio One does embed settings however kontakt saves it's last settings when closed does it not?
Anyway, would it be so hard to make the window resizable on the top as well. I can't think of any software I use that doesn't make a window resizable either buy a drag to resize or a corner grab to resize.
I created a macro to capture what I have to do to resize the window every time I open an instance of kontakt so I don't have to click 1600 times to resize all the instances of kontakt in my template.
This is a totally a kontakt issue the window can't be resized if you can't see the bottom right corner. It is really quite simple.
With studio one nothing is out of wack except kontakt in my template. It is the only piece of software that can't be manipulated like everything else. Honestly when I use kontakt I feel like I am using software from 20 years ago. Sorry but that is the reality.

I understand it fully. Kontakt is not resizable from the top. I get it.
It is what it is - probably by design.
If/when/ever NI decides this needs a fix - it will get one. But until then…

Yes typical NI only game in town so too bad what the actual users think

"I agree Studio One does embed settings however kontakt saves it's last settings when closed does it not?"
Unknown - but I know Studio One tracks that Kontakt window. And if that is what this is making this issue appear (via your workflow moving from larger res to smaller res) - it's not a Kontakt issue.
Again - do not know what DAW you use - so cannot comment definitively.

Of course. This is a well known fact (and possibly will remain unsolved for a long more time, if resolved ever! —perhaps with quantum computers?—).
I work with Cubase 14 on my desktop but when i open those projects on my laptop, i have to resize almost everything!
This of course has nothing to do with Kontakt or any other software, but the OP here seems that can not understand this.

The OP is frustrated for certain but is either not quite getting the gist of what is going on here OR does not realize that the actual UI container frame in which Kontakt sits - had it's sizing controls extensively modified to answer those calls of the thousands who wanted some semblance of "Scaling" back in the early days of K7 - when NI added that Zoom Factor menu (under the View menu in the upper left)
But the overall issue (of moving from one res to another and then having to resize everything) is very well known to me - now that the OP explained his exact workflow - but that has been an issue for YEARS - with tons of software that I have used.
I have not used any resolution other than Standard HD for years now - so this would not effect me - but I do see the OPs point in having an easy to use method to resize Kontakt to it's default. Would probably come in handy for more than just this use case.
However - if I was in "solutioning mode" and this was trippin me up - I would simply pick a consistent resolution on all my workstations and get back to work.
There are so many other issues with vastly higher priority to fix in Kontakt on any given day - this one won't come soon. Makes no sense to dwell on it.

Yes many other issues. Always so many issues. Like, why would quick-load be removed? It just goes on and on with this software.

Lucky you can resize everything. As long as you can see the bottom right corner. Let's join the 21st century. There are so many issues with this software and for the amount that is charged for it you would think functionality would be better.
