updating projects from Kontakt 6 to 8

I have several projects where I used Kontakt 6 to access Native Instruments. Of course when I updated to Kontakt 8 the links got messed with. I have painstakingly gone through all of my projects (more than 200) and changed the each progress from 6 to 8. I thought I'd solved it. Today when I pull up any project with Kontakt it reverts to 6 rather than 8 even though I had saved it with 8. I do still have Kontakt 6 and 8. Any ideas are greatly appreciated

When asking for help about something then it's always a very good idea to include any relevant information.

In this case then relevant at least is exact OS version and make and exact version number of DAW.

What is a mystery here is - just updating to K8 - while leaving K6 in place - should do nothing negative.

Every existing project should open just fine as the project would have no idea that K8 is even a thing.

Agree with @PoorFellow - I feel like we are missing something here.

    thanks

I have downloaded the legacy links provided on the NI site. They will only load as demo versions. I have also opened native access and added serial numbers for product validation. access only shows the newer instruments though

Apologies - but I still do not understand what all this means - especially "Legacy links" - to what exactly?

And added serials for what - exactly?

Legacy links to older versions of Instruments which are available on the NI site for those still using Kontakt 6

Serial numbers entered into Native Access for the various instruments

If you are talking about redownloading specific K6 versions of libraries that were displaying "Your version of Kontakt is too old" - and these products are already part of your licensed products within your NI Acct - there is no need to add serials and so on.

Library replacement is simply uninstall "newer" (non-working version) and reinstall older - K6 friendly version.

If any of these are suddenly displaying Demo - the first cause for this is a non-registered library - as in a product you are not actually licensed for.

Have you upgraded to Mixcraft 10.6 pro studio ? I would like to think that it's free for version 10 users ?

So , just some stray thoughts. What exact Kontakt 6 version were that ? VST2 or VST3 ? 32 bit or 64 bit ?

The new Kontakt 8 as VST is exclusively VST3 and 64 bit so I don't know if anything could be in play with respect to that. Also were the projects made with Mixcraft version 10 ?

Else then after re-saving project with Kontakt 8 then you could try moving the Kontakt 6 VSTs before opening the project again to see if that makes any difference.

Otherwise then maybe people over at the Mixcraft forum have an idea or ask Mixcraft support ?
