So Play Series is now available on Akai's Mpc, but not available on Native Instruments Maschine+.
NI does not give af about its users, just a money grab at this point. Absolutely terrible!
AFAIK is Kontakt 6 not available from NI anymore, and probably doesn’t even run on newest operating systems anymore (don’t know, because I’m always at least one version behind).
you probably would need to look at something like Preset magician & convertwithmoss… which apparently can do conversions of sorts, preset magician is more for creating the presets, like our NI resident preset maker does (i forget his name atm)
not really something i have a need for, but may come in handy when the time arises
So, NI (and commercial developers) can choose to ‘open’ or ‘close’ a library / instrument. Then again, they completely control your account, so any export containing commercial samples could be / remain under the same copyright control. It’s the same user, the same platform / ecosystem, just another hardware device. Just like it’s allowed to install things on two separate PCs Under the same account.
Why bringing up all kind of limitations…? Just like suggesting* all kinda workarounds using older versions of Kontakt and/or 3P tools to get the job done…? So, what would benefit you as a user…?
I think it would be great if this ‘Kontakt player for Maschine’ is backwards compatible, so loading and playing Kontakt 6 exports, too. But I think it would also benefit a K7 or K8 desktop user to remove older software versions of the software from their desktop PCs. And, it would also benefit the user when an instrument or preset could be (auto-)exported to M+, so it can be legally used as such, instead of a fixed / bounced down track. And, I also think nothing of this would hurt NI or its partners, the contrary.
*) don’t get me wrong, those suggestions and workarounds are very welcome as long as NI cannot offer a user-centric solution.
@MaikR while I basically agree that we need a more user-centric approach in general, I don’t see an easy solution here:
So #1 is never going to happen because it would require a lot of engineering to get copy protection for commercial content back in place, and #2 was proven to never happen because the ROI is obviously negligible. Except if customers accept to pay a small fee to receive optimized versions for their M+ optimized content - and even then NI might not reach break even.
I don't think it's going to answer all the prayers, but the M+ update @Chris_NI and co are working on does have some improvements re: content inclusions, and with more planned for a follow up update. That's as much as I can say right now.
New kernel too I hope!
Absolutely - did you see the update here?
Cool, has the outlook thread been posted? I maybe blind to it.
Oh, how you tease 🤣
same here…
New firmware??? The beta program???
Any REAL news?????
https://community.native-instruments.com/discussion/21231/more-information-on-future-updates-m#latest
Yes, there is a new firmware in beta and that is about as real as the news gets. May I suggest other great past times like watching paint dry, or even watching a pot to see if it boils. Joking aside, if you have Reaktor, in between updates is a great way to have a little learn of that and put yourself some bits n bobs together for the M+
You can control multiparameters morphing using 64 Lock States. You can do it in Keyboard mode, Touch strip or in Sequencer.
Less than 5 minutes with new Maschine 3.
