Kontakt 7 and 8 make new Mac Studio crash and reboot

just purchased a brand new Mac Studio running Sequoia 15.2 and when I open Kontakt 7 or 8 stand-alone the machine freezes and then reboots. Is this just a lack of compatibility that needs an update from NI or can I do anything to resolve. The computer shipped with 15.2 pre loaded. Thanks.

    another update on this, Kontakt 7 works ok when launched in Cubase pro 13. The crash/reboot only happens when the application is opened standalone. Does this point to anything?

    Hey @sijomast What kind of M4 chip is it? We had several reports of M4 Max and Pro creating Kernel Panics, crashing the whole computer. The issue is on Apple's side and we submitted a report to them.

    Are you using an external monitor? What brand/model is it? Can switch the resolution rate to 60Hz? IT stopped the crashing for users with 5K, ultrawide monitors, etc…

    Hi Jeremy, I'm using a Mac Studio M2 Ultra 192Gb/4Tb with a Dell U4025QW by Thunderbolt 4 at 5120 x 2160 and tried both 120Hz and 60Hz with no change. Kontakt 7 opens as a plugin in Cubase 13 Pro ok but not Kontakt 8. Komplete Kontrol opens both standalone and in Cubase but shows an error report. One new plugin that is installed but doesn't open is Clavinet Clone. I've also raised the query with them. Any ideas?

    Hi

    Just purchased Kontakt 8, but it crashes everytime I load it.

    Mac OS Sonoma 14.7.1 Macbook pro 14" 2023 Apple M2 Max.

    Kontakt 7 crashes too, only Kontakt 6 works good…

    Hey Serge, so it's only Kontakt 8 that's crashing, not the whole computer? Then it seems to be a different issue. Do Kontakt 7 and 8 crash in standalone as well? Have you tried these steps already? Kontakt Crashes

    @sijomast There was a 15.3 update last week, have you updated and did it have a positive effect on the issue?

    Hi Jeremy I cant see an update for Kontakt via Native Access although NA did update itself. Is that what you mean?

    No, I meant the Apple MacOs update, Sequoia 15.3.

    I’m having the same issue with my Mac M2 Max crashing when I open kontakt 7 or 8 in stand alone or inside of protools. Have tried everything- updated Mac iOS software, uninstalled and re installed kontakt player software, etc. Still crashes and reboots computer. There’s got to be a fix??
