    @Vocalpoint

But if one does not like the product. Or the company. Or the policies - one can always just go support someone else.

But we do not speak about liking or disliking the product, or policy…. We speak about company violating the licence contract.

Thanks so much to everyone. I was ill, so couldn't reply until today. So anyway, as per @Kubrak 's instructions, I uninstalled everything. Even Cubase Studio.

Then I reinstalled Cubase Studio - I opened it up, it looked fine. Then I went through these steps:

    1. Install Native Access (that is sort of replacement for Service Center….)
    2. Register your licence for Komplete 6 in Native Access
    3. Set Native Access to show also legacy software
    4. You should be able to install most of K6

    And now:

    1. In Native Access, I can't see many of my Komplete 6 apps, including Battery, Guitar Rig - even when I check "Show Discontinued Aps".
    2. Now Cubase Studio doesn't open and says: "Runtime Error! Program C:\ - This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way…"

So, something about installing Komplete 6 affected Cubase Studio from working. The sad thing is, I had all of this working.

What I might try now, is uninstalling Komplete 6 - which I can't really do, I have to uninstall every app - and then try to install each app separately? Also, I'm out of the loop and still unclear as to whether I can upgrade to Komplete 15 Standard from 6, or if Komplete 8 is the "base-app" for being able to upgrade to Komplete 15 Ultimate or Standard, etc.

As others have said, @Vocalpoint , I'm fine with it being unsupported, but I should still be able to use it. I'm not even opposed to upgrading when I can afford to (not yet).

If you are fine with it being "unsupported" - then why you seeking support?

Support is support - ranging from accessing the helpdesk to requesting technical support here in the forums all the way up to company policy on retired products - and especially - having the correct authorization tools still available (and working) to actually activate this stuff.

If your stuff was current (and supported) - this would be easy - but if you are rocking products from 2009 - what exactly are you expecting?

Here is what was in K6 in 2009:

    image.png

I see that Absynth 5, FM8, Massive and Reaktor 5 are still available in Native Access (at least for me). There is no sign of Kontakt 4 or GR4.

The only recourse in this case is for you is to contact NI Support and discuss it directly with them.

Only they can determine whether this scenario has any solution and if there is anything they can do - to allow you to still be able to use it.

Ah, very good. I stand corrected. What I probably meant is, I would be fine with no free updates or fixes beyond allowing it to run on a computer. 😁

I can't see Guitar Rig or Battery 3 in Native Access.

I uninstalled all of the Komplete 6 apps - which I had to do, app by app, and now Cubase runs! I guess I will start the process of saving up for Komplete 15. I just hope Cubase Studio 5 (64bit) supports it, otherwise I will have to upgrade that TOO.

    Thanks

still unclear as to whether I can upgrade to Komplete 15 Standard from 6, or if Komplete 8 is the "base-app" for being able to upgrade to Komplete 15 Ultimate or Standard, etc.

That depends on if the you already used the Komplete 6 as base for an update to Komplete 8 or if the Komplete 8 is a full price version. I think that N.I. only lets you use the same full non-upgrade bundle as base for updating/upgrading to one product , then that product that you upgraded to (together with the previous base products) becomes the base of the next product upgrade. But if both your Komplete 6 and your Komplete 8 in full price not-update/upgrade versions then they can both be used as base for updates. Generally speaking then the bundle update/upgrades acts sort of as a tower where each layer above builds and depends on all below that is below and you can not remove anything in between without making all that is above not working.

Of course to be usable as a base for an update/upgrade then the product must be registered to your account. and must stay to be able to use the update/upgrade.

Also check your My Komplete Offers page.

You can also see what can be used as base for what and bundle content at the bundle compare page.

in case of any doubts then you can contact N.I. Purchase Support or N.I. Account Support

Cubase Studio 5 is from 2011 and has been long since retired. And then there is this:

Cubase Studio 5 - How Best to Upgrade - Cubase - Steinberg Forums

Cubase is currently at version 14 - there is no upgrade path from Studio 5

Almost a 100% guarantee that none of Komplete Standard 15 would run in Cubase Studio 5 anyway.

You will need to purchase a new copy of Cubase 14 - to get full value from a new purchase of Komplete 15 standard.

You mentioned that you had them working before on your PC which is now currently running Windows 11 after reformatting the boot drive. Were you running Windows 11 on your PC before it was reformatted? And if you were, did you upgrade from previous version of Windows in place (that is, without reformatting the boot drive)?

All plugins of K6 still should work and it still should be possible to authorise it. See list.

    https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/360006053397-Service-Center-and-Legacy-Products-End-of-Life

The thing may be, that it will not show up in NA on your version of OS as it is not most probably officially supported. It did not exist that time.

You may use your licence as Base Product. Does not matter if it Full product or upgraded/updated/crossgraded one.

    https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/bundles/komplete-15-ultimate/compare/

If you want to update to K15, easy step, just buy K15 Update from Komplete 2-14.

If you want to upgrade to K15U or K15U CE, you have to Update to K15 and then Upgrade to K15U or K15U CE. It is not possible to upgrade directly from K6 to K15U or K15U CE, NI requires at least K8.

If not in hurry you may wait for Summer sale when updates/upgrades cost 50% less. Or if you consider to Upgrade to K15U or K15U CE and want to have something now, you may buy Update to K15 now, to have working solution now and delay second step (Upgrading to K15U or K15U CE) to Summer Sale (June 2025).

But still, even K6 should work. Maybe that after installation of K6 and authorisation using NA you need to install latest version of plugins using NA.

Also note that K6 has only VST2, not VST3.

Also, your Cubase is old, the problem may be in Cubase, not in Komplete installation…

I was running Windows 10, IIRC, but "succumbed" to the automatic, enforced update. I could look into rolling it back but it might break more important things. I think I will resign myself to saving up for Komplete 15 Standard. I don't think Komplete 6 would make things cheaper, but I will confirm with NI.

@theagx You can find the installers for Battery 3 here: Where Can I Download the BATTERY 3 Installer?

What version of Guitar Rig do you need? Gutar Rig Pro 4? Here it is Guitar Rig Pro 4 Windows

Native Access does not install these but will still activate them.

Regarding the Runtime error, check this out: Windows Error Message: "Runtime Error!"

Thanks for this. I will try this over the next few days. Just one thing: Technically, I don't have a Battery product code/licence. My licence is for Komplete 6 (which includes Battery 3), so wouldn't this be a problem?

Komplete 6 is still a valid licence for Battery 3, no worries.
