macOS Sequoia / Apple Chip compatibility with Traktor Kontrol S4 MK1

Hi all,

I recently upgraded to last year's M3 Macbook Pro, and with it am dragging my Traktor S4 MK1. I was previously able to install the Kontrol Drivers 2.8.0 and 2.7.0 in a workaround on an older mac (newer relative to the S4 MK1), but these same drivers will not install on this computer — they fail with mac's "The installation has failed" prompt. Does anyone have a fix here?

While I reasonably could assume this is hopeless (the computer and controller being a decade+ apart), I assumed the same thing with my mid-2010's Macbook Pro running Catalina 10.15. Any help appreciated.

Unfortunately there is no known way to get an S4 Mk1 working on Apple Silicon Macs.

This Mk1 controller requires drivers which are only available for older Intel Chips. These cannot work on Apple Silicon Macs.

what is the problem to writing a driver for this controller (kontrol s4 mk1)?

    is it to complex?
    that will be best…

Did Technics Sl turntable even think that if we were going to design a new turntable we would have to destroy the old one…god damn
(The mine is over 30 years old and still runs like a charm without having tightened a single screw :)

quality eventually pays for itself over the years by making something good products

Traktor are temporarily good products but if you don't join us as soon…. than it's over

You can still use it on PC or older mac.

It's sad that they don't upgrade the drivers. Someone made the x1 mk1 work with a few hundred lines of code.

Xone updated the driver for the k2, but they also still sell the k2.

But of course the old technics still work. It's a bit like buying bluetooth speakers and complaining to Technics that they don't support it on 10 year old models ;-)

Perhaps the manufacturer of the chipsets used in Traktor Kontrol S4 Mk1 does not have x86 32-bit or ARM64 firmware library codes for NI to build a driver?
