So Play Series is now available on Akai's Mpc, but not available on Native Instruments Maschine+.
NI does not give af about its users, just a money grab at this point. Absolutely terrible!
Alexios … If you adapted this library for Maschine+ in one day: ¿How is it possible that NI has not done this work with many of the libraries that currently exist for Kontakt?????
If it took you only 1 day, a company like NI that has a dedicated work team for this ... It should take a lot less time, right?
Yes, there is such an intention. I held on while waiting for the update of maschine +.
Have you actually looked at the videos of how the play series instruments integrate with the MPC? It is very much cut down compared to the Kontakt Instruments. Same for the expansions, fewer kits, less sounds, multisampled instruments to replace some of the massive, Monark and prism presets, fewer loops and one shots. No battery kits etc.
My only hope for NI's M+ is hopefully Akai will show them how to make a 100% standalone, because software isn't coming (as of now).
AKAI: Just throw a battery in the M+
Aka have a two tier system for their software.
MPC Beats is free, includes 2GB of content, 80 plugins and VST support. The full version is MPC 2, which you can trial, buy, rent-to-own or subscribe to.
The other advantage is that when buying one of their plugins, one price gets you the desktop version and the standalone version (in most cases).
As far as I'm aware, not a single one of the multiple plugins released by NI since Maschine+ arrived have included a standalone version.
Now - hallelujah, there ARE standalone versions, except they're not for the Native Instruments product, they're for Akai's products. 🤣
Cant believe what i am reading here…..
Thanks guys for all the effort you put into the maschine +
the Monark and frankly all of the filters in Massive X are top notch. Adding those and some basic plumbing (like globally turning off loops in an auto sample) to the sampler would be AMAZING…for me at least.
It’s possible opening up NKS and NI instruments to more platforms would lead to more money/resources to dev crews at NI. Could be a good thing. Hopefully NI has some Maschine announcements this week at Namm.
I think we need a bit more of patience. NI has to make some money, and extending their content distribution channels is a great way to do that and give some cash to invest in hardware. No one should blame a company for trying to to earn money and prioritizing anything that can help them on that.
Keep in mind that the MPC content announced is not a port of actual plugins to the MPC platform, they only ported sounds, while Akai on their side enhanced the MPC’s sampler and key groups to accommodate features Kontakt provides. And to take the example of Analog Dreams, you don’t get all the features MPC side, and the presets are not the same, the overall feel and types of sounds are similar and some of the presets are reproduced completely but not all.
So for me, no, the hell did not freeze over, NI is not going to port all their plugins on MPC and abandon hardware, I think this type of conclusions are well exaggerated.
As far as I am concerned, there is not much I’m asking in terms of features on my M+, it has pretty much everything I need and in standalone mode. I’m not concerned anymore about the performance, I know it is a standalone box and has limits so I deal with them. The feel of the hardware is amazing compared to the plastics of an MPC, but as you know, what you pay is what you get.
Sure, would be cool to have some more content, and a well integrated vocoder (currently possible by adding some ensembles but quite clunky and not easy to use), but otherwise this box has all the features I would need.
Of course this should work seamlessly with Maschine V3 software but NI has already committed on that.
If you want I can propose it to administrator. We already discussed it with her and I know why they think it’s better anonymous, but frankly…it’s not working.
For me personally, it’s not a big deal… I just find the abuse really a poor man move…
I don’t have any problem in people not agreeing with me having a way to express it. I just find useless to do it without arguing with a written post, in order to confront each other opinion.
And about the guys using it as a weapon…without taking intellect in the equation, I always try to think that it’s poor people with a poor life and therefore if doing those thing on the internet makes them feel better…I’m quite happy to give them a relief 😏
I got warned for criticizing Chris, lmao. I'm pretty sure the whole upvote/downvote/funny system was implemented to try and control the way we interact and post on here. Very disappointing that they'll spend money & time on changing the forums needlessly instead of fixing our gear. :P I've seen the forum updated more times than Maschine in the past couple years, if I'm honest.
Yeah…sarcasm is one of the things they hate the most 😂
Don’t worry… no big amount of money is being used for the forum 😏
The people in charge to manage all of this are 2 (well…1? Since one of the 2 is not even writing since July).
All the other people we (sometimes) see are volunteers or people from NI that intervene here and there when it’s time (new releases, something to advertise, people complaining too much that therefore can’t be ignored anymore,…)
I think NI cut this deal with Akai so that all their hardware will become NKS compatible now, even their Mini keyboards. In order for Akai to come around they probably asked for some of their play series plugins because AIR plugins aren't that good. NI might just only give them these few. They didnt give their best Play series instruments in my opinion. From the videos that I watched Akais Play series are watered down versions of the ones in Kontakt. Less presets no wave tables. As a Maschine plus user( a komplete ultimate collectors edition owner ) I do feel frustrated on how they seem to treat us their customers. After all that money spent they could at least let us know when updates are coming so we don't feel abandoned. I do love NI so I trying to think positive.
There's that other guy too, who's been doing Reaktor stuff for Maschine+
NI should employ these guys!

I think the problem isn’t that we cannot run a full, unrestricted version of K8 in standalone mode. The problem is that we still cannot ‘simply’ export a M+ compatible instrument that can be used on an updated version of the ’Kontakt Player for Maschine’ in standalone. The problem is that NI didn’t build an ecosystem wherein pieces of software and hardware ALL work flawlessly together.
Let me repeat my suggestion. Let us buy full K8. Let us buy full desktop libraries or instruments. Give us the option to export slimmed down versions ourself for use as a ’Instrument for Maschine’ that can be used in an integrated ’Kontakt Player’ in registered Maschine SW on desktop and M+. Maybe it could be made that smart so it could use some features from K8 that are already part of Maschine.
Same thinking should be done to integrating Kontrol and Traktor. As ’hybrid deejay’ or musician is the new marketing strategy, or isn’t it…?
