Maschine+ Power Bank guide

Ouch! Looks like he went to great lengths to leave a negative review. I wonder if his other reviews are similar?
My thoughts: The average end user isn't going to bother testing with meters and resistors, filming results etc. They're also going to use it as intended - powering a phone, tablet, laptop etc. rather than test equipment.
I think as long as it does what the customer wants, they're not going to be that concerned about whether it meets the mAh spec. First he claims the capacity is around 11,000mAh but later he says it's 9,770mAh?
Possibly the given spec is calculated anyway, rather than a real life figure. The max output of speakers is stated in the same way - they measure the output at a certain wattage then scale up.
[later] I've had a look at his pictures, one of which shows the device label. It's 20,000mAh at 3.7V 74Wh but he doesn't state what voltage he was using for his tests. Surely higher voltage = fewer hours.

That dude seems knowledgeable, I am not qualified to verify his testing methodology but going through that length of so many pictures and details to only lie would be strange… I'd trust him tbh. Check his profile: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/profile/amzn1.account.AFNV6VXQQEXB5X5IMNGTPPERUN6Q/
If you're OK with the strong possibility of paying for 20000mah and getting 10000mah then buy it, if not then don't. Instead of the powerbank giving you around 9-10 hours of use you'll get 4-5, personally at that point I'd rather buy a 10000mah one from a reputable brand.
There's tons of videos out there about ebay/amazon phantom companies claiming fake capacity of their powerbanks.

Thanks! Yeah, I should've been clearer. I was thinking of getting it till I read this review. But it did get me thinking that without his insights, equipment and attention to detail we really don't know that what we're getting is performing as adverised.
Sure, in this case, it would be noticeable that a 20k powerbank only get 50% of the expected 9 hours. But if I was getting 7 hours, I'd assume that my use cases were just more power heavy, and would never know that the issue might be the bank itself.
Would've been great if he got them to send a replacement, and he re-tested. More than that I'd be curious as to what he got instead and what he'd recommend :)

I’ve used this one which worked. If you search the QA on the page they also specify it supports 15V/3A.

just found this bad boy. Pretty sure it’ll work based on what I’ve read here and on Reddit but can someone confirm that for me? I’m not the greatest electricity guy ever….
It looks like it should though, while providing ample battery life for the Maschine+

I got the fancy Ugreen with the screen since it was at a discount, works well.
I think it's this model. Yes, it will work, dont forget to get a 15V trigger cable.
Price is a little too good, Is that used? Not sure how safe it is to buy battery devices used, you will have no idea in what state the battery is in (they do degrade with use).

the problem was, after it arrived yesterday, even though it said it was used and in good condition, it arrived damaged - as in the actual ports were too far into the holes of the shell, making it impossible to plug things into. I’m assuming it was either dropped, or refurbished incorrectly. Returning it today. I’ll take a look at what you posted above.

You need USB C to DC
It's hard to find and it's something that majority are not aware what exist but they can be sellers or just thinking how they are professionals and they are asking a lot of questions. I am ready to go all the way, just let everything go so I confront because it's something that should be nessery for the power bank market and it's stupid that is not and those people are…I don't understand but I see only one option and that's Online ordering. It's better to be aware of how much I don't know them to participate in society without Inovators, Artists or here it is example as real life Metaphor Programmers in the city without Micro HDMI cable to buy. It doesn't matter why it should be available.
Just look for the Cable.

This is one of the reasons why I said the price was a bit too good. On most things that cost under 60$, buy it new.
Or.. It could be your cable, some have a bit more plastic protruding that doesn't enable connection when the tolerance is too small on the device, it has hapenned to me before and I fixed by removing a bit of the cable connector plastic with x-acto knife… but if you have a bunch of different cables (normal USB-C to USB-C just to check) and none of them fit then it's really the device at fault.

So, I did end up returning it. The guy said he was selling a bunch of used ones that were all the same model, and most of them were fine, and that this was just a fluke. He offered to replace it, but I didn’t want to wait any longer, so I declined.
I ended up buying the one I believe you have at a discount. Which does work. I bought a cable with a special kind of circuit inside it which delivers no more power than the unit currently uses. It was actually a pretty inexpensive cable I found on amazon. One end power for the unit, the other end USB-C for the external power source. The only issue I’ve noticed with it is when the battery starts to get low, it seems to not power the unit properly, but this only happens when the battery is low.
So, all and all, I’d say it worked out well. Power source does its job, and gives me hours and hours of Maschine+ time.0 -

I haven't used it with a low battery yet, how low would you say it needs to be for that to happen? like 10%?
Are you positive you bought the tight PD trigger cable? 15V and not say 12V?

yes, I’d say around ten percent, give or take, is probably around when I’ve noticed this happening.
here is the link to the exact cable I bought: https://a.co/d/bWPLLMt

😱 I am extremely surprised you did not just completely fry your M+ to a crisp, that cable says 20V, the original post says to use 15V…
Either you're very lucky, the M+ has overvoltage protection/regulation or for some reason the power bank is locked at 12/15V and not supplying those 20V in that cables description…. I would not be pushing your luck any further, get the right cable.
You do not want a variable voltage normal PD cable, you need one that triggers 15V and 15V only! Up to you tho…

well I could probably return it and get one you recommend. I saw this though upon clicking on the “see all product information” link (screen cap below). This was a cable I found from the Maschine Reddit, and it looked like many + users were using that exact cable with the Anker version of the Ugreen battery I purchased (these batteries look to me like a white-label Chinese product which many electronics companies seem to be just slapping their own brand on and reselling, based on what I’ve seen on the web). Many machine users that linked to it said it’s worked quite well with their external batteries. But like I said, id rather be safe than sorry, so if there’s one you’d recommend more that’s safer, I’d probably return this one and get the other.

I assume that's your highlighting of 45 watts and 5 amps? The important part though is the VOLTAGE, and if that's too high………bang goes your expensive product.
