I think Ali just wants to use the MK3 to trigger the VirtualDJ sampler slots directly…

It's not very simple, as the Maschine hardware doesn't work like a typical MIDI controller.

    Hello,

virtual DJ should be able to send out midi clock, on mac you can create a virtual midi cable and use this them between vdj and maschine. In maschine you activate this midi input an enable midi clock, if you need them to be in sync. on mac you should also be able to open the two programs and route the audio to the outputs you need.

No, that post is regarding routing of the audio from Maschine (software) into VDJ.

I believe the goal here is to just use the Maschine MK3 as a set of USB pads directly into VDJ. Typically if you use a generic USB pad controller this would be easy, but the Maschine hardware doesn't play nice.

VDJ has a mapping page where you can monitor incoming MIDI and map easily - e.g. hit a pad, MIDI data is displayed, enter the command in VDJ.

I couldn't get VDJ to see any data as input from the Maschine.

I think it would easiest to use something like the Akai MPD218 as it has native support in VDJ.

Ahh ok then you can do what is already mentioned ba @PK The DJ or use the standard midi template from maschine and map the pads and maybe knobs yourself, I would ask in the vdj forum if you need help with the mapper in vdj, look in the manual or yt. Unfortunately I don't own vdj so can't make you a mapping. I would start with the standard midi template and delete all pad pages instead of one. And map that one pad page to the sampler, same with the 8 knobs of you need them but of course I don't know all possibilities of vdj.

    UPDATE!

Earlier I was having no luck getting a response from VDJ, but now I've managed to get somewhere.

When I tried on my desktop it seemed the Maschine was not sending anything, as the data was not showing in VDJ, so I tried on my laptop and saw some data.

Now back on my desktop I'm finally seeing something. The mapping for the 16 pads looks like this in VDJ:
