Native Access not working - wants to update but cannot uninstall older version ...
Having this problem for years now … thought I'd give it another shot so I might be able to get some new black friday stuff ;-)
I am on Windows 11 (had this problem on windows 10 too). I start "Native Access" and it starts an update process …
So I try to remove the old installation …
In this process, the installer asks me to locate the old setup sources. I tried almost every directory known to me but either the installer comes back to this selection or I get an script error …
Any ideas on how to solve this?

At this point then all I can come up with is that you try to remove the old version of N.A. and NTKDaemon and scrub as best you can for remnants of the old version of N.A. and NTKDaemon and then try installing the new version N.A. as an admin.
To remove Native Access and NTKDaemon then uninstall as best you can and then run the NI reg tool and remove anything Native Access and NTKDaemon , then use Windows Explorer to search your system drive for all instances of 'Native Access' and 'NTKDaemon' and delete it all . Then restart computer , download newest version of Native Access for your OS , then reinstall Native Access as an Administrator .
As an alternative way of removing the Native Access and NTKDaemon then you can also try using the 'forced uninstall' function of Revo Uinstall Pro TRIAL to remove both then reboot then install new n.A. as an Admin.
If that doesn't work either then check this :
Fixing Software Update Installation Issues (Windows)
Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files
Allow an app to access controlled folders
block third-party app installations in Windows 11/10 (for how to unblock)
if problem persists then please contact N.I. Native Access and Installation Support . In case that you need guidance contacting support : How to contact NI Support and How to get in touch with our Customer Care

Hello,
please download the legacy installer (the one for Win 7/8)
Windows 7, 8 (latest SP, 32/64-bit)
and install it "on top" of the older installation (run it as administrator).
This should fix your issue.
After that, you should be able to update to Native Access 2.

Thanks for the quick reply … I could install the older Version of Native Access you provided and it runs fine! But if I then try to install the new Native Access 2 I get the exact same error as before.
I tried a view different times with restarting my computer after installation of the older version → no success unfortunately.

Try to uninstall the old version first. Then download and manually install Native Access 2

Did that:
- Uninstalled Native Access -> works, no error
- Restart
- Native Access is gone
- Folder "C:\Program Files\Native Instruments\Native Access" is gone
- I still have an installation of "Native Instruments NTKDaemon" listed under "Programs and Software" which I cannot uninstall -> Asks me for original folder ...
- Fresh Download of "Native Access 2"
- Try to Install -> old Error "unable to uninstall old version of Native Instruments NTKDaemon"
The installation/uninstallation of the old Native Access does not eliminate the old NTKDaemon ...

Wow - the first link solved my problem! After clearing the registry from NTKdaemon I could finally install Native Access 2!
Finally, I can update my plugins and install some of the freebies I collected during the last years (but could never actually try).
Thx, a lot!1 -
Thank you for providing feedback and for confirming the fix 🙂
