It is a bit confusing as under Mixer it says it controls volume/pan

So how does one switch to the mode under Transport?

I can get it to move the play head when in MIDI mode with an audio track - maybe that just isn't clear in the guide? So I guess DAW mode really means Mixer mode, transport is available in all 3 modes (Mixer, MIDI and Plugin when KK is loaded)?

Yes, same here. In DAW/Mixer mode, the manual is correct. But I am not sure about the Transport mode screenshot I shared on the previous page. Thanks for your time and help in verifying.

I think the only missing thing here is that the 4D encoder doesn't control play head position when in DAW (Mixer) mode. It should at least do when holding Shift if not by itself, as per the user manual.

I am not sure if it is intended.

@Jeremy_NI Could you please confirm if this behavior is expected? Thanks.

Shift is used for fine volume though in mixer mode, so I guess that mixer mode is just when DAW is selected, otherwise the stuff under transport like play head is when in MIDI mode but not DAW mode

Yes, I understand. The main reason for this behavior/choice of using 4D Encoder for track volume seems to be because its left and right clicks changes tracks, so next thing you would want is to control the volume of the track you are on.

It would have been nice to control play head position using 4D Encoder in DAW mode somehow, but not a big deal, as it works in other modes.

    Good discussion though.
