z1 mk2 not working with traktor 4, any tips?
Hi All,
I received the z1 this morning and installed the driver from the main downloads page of the z1 mk2.
Unfortunately, the device is not being picked up. It turns on when plugged in but the screens dont show anything and there is an orange light showing at the top middle.
When I entered traktor 4, I did receive a pop up saying please setup z1 which I followed the on screen instructions but its still not working.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
OS is windows 11

Go here and download the appropriate Controller Editor for your computer.
Then read this:
Understanding Controller Editor
Make sure the editor recognizes the Z1 MK2 and you should be good to go.
If you have further issues, lemme know.

You don't need to do anything with Controller editor.
The Z1 MK2 shouldn't need any drivers to be installed before it can be used. The ASIO drivers are optional and can be installed if the WASAPI exclusive mode doesn't give decent performance. Unfortunately installing the ASIO drivers at the moment causes the WASAPI drivers to not work properly.
Did you get the pop up about updating the firmware when you first connected the Z1mk2?

If Controller Editor does not recognize the controller, its a good step in the direction of troubleshooting.

Are you sure the new x1 mk3 and z1 mk2 do even show up there any more?

Fair point. No. I'm not. However, when I was having issues with my F1 during the TP3 update, Controller Editor was able to recognize the F1 which somehow kicked TP3 into recognizing so, I thought I'd offer something that had worked for me in the past with a previous hardware device from the same developer.

To be honest, when I first opened traktor, I did not receive the pop up, after some messing around with the native access app and plugging in and out, I got the pop up.
Unfortunately, the z1 mk2 is still not working and I have tried a 2nd windows PC. It seems like a software/driver bug?

Ok, so you've downloaded and run the firmware iupdater for the Z1mk2. You've installed the ASIO driver. You've updated Traktor to 4.1.
Open Traktor, wait for it to do its initial library checks. Plug in Z1. It should light up and top screens should display the EQs etc.
Go to Audio Setup, in Settings. Select Traktor Z1Mk2 (ASIO) as audio device. There may be more than one device listed, so if the first one doesn't work check the other. Then check output routing preferences. Once done device should work. You'll need to tweak the audio settings to improve latency but should be ok to start.

Yes, the latest version of traktor 4.1 is installed.
The z1mk2 updater has been installed and the active, 0.2.9.
I have selected the Z1 has my main audio output, but unfortunately, no lights appear on my Z1. The only light showing is an orange light at the very top.

Make sure Traktor isn't running in DEMO mode maybe??? I think this happened to me waaaay back with the F1. I was inadvertently in DEMO mode and the hardware didn't work in that mode.

Thanks for the suggestion, its definitely using the paid version of traktor pro as I have to activate the serial number on the back of the device via the native access app.

That's strange. Even if you don't select the Z1 in the audio set up it should still work as a mixer in Traktor, that is the faders and pots should still move on screen when you move them on the Z1.
If you try running the updater again does DFU mode show on the Z1 display?

@Matty18 in case you see two Z1 ASIO drivers, choose the one with the green arrow on the image below. The "default" is the other one, but it is not working, as we mentioned on this post.
Also make sure that the Z1 MK2 Control Panel is running in your taskbar
