Will you be able to use KK 2.9.4 with Komplete 15..

    Not all, Kontakt 8 itself works but for some reason libraries built for Kontakt 8 such as Conflux, Kithara and Porphria, do not work if loading from the browser. They will load though and seem stable, when loaded directly in Kontakt 8 when hosted in Komplete Kontrol but you lose some of the NKS benefits then

    Great question! I would like to know as well.

    Mind you - Komplete 15 is not really a "product" just a large license collection of previous released "things" 99.99% of which have already ran fine in v2.9.6 - save for the new Kontakt 8.

    Will form a very important decision making process for me.

    Thank you for your replies. Some food for thought.

    I've upgraded to Komplete 15 and not had any noticable issues although I heven't had much time with it lately.

    I'm still on KK 2.9.4 but thinking that maybe it is time to upgrade that too.

    Well, would be good if NI tests and guaranies that things work in KK 2.9.4 (or Maschine 2).

    Do you think that people who spent over 1000 EUR for S88 mk1 only six years ago are going to ditch it? No, they will not upgrade to higher Komplete version instead, till keyboard keeps working, if their keyboard is not fully supported.

    I think NI were very clear on the state of KK v2.9.6 back in Oct 2023

    Available to anyone who wants it. Unsupported for all. And that means testing as well.

    OK. Then no update to Komplete 15 Ultimate CE and later, till my K88 mk1 stops working. As my S88 seems to be in good condition, I estimate, I will skip 15 and 16 (maybe even 17) saving about 1000 EUR on my regular updates.

    And so, a new keyboard will be sort of for free, bought for money saved on not bought updates. Just NI will receive 1000+ EUR less from me.

    And the same for controllers. No need to buy new Maschine that will come sooner or later, if I cannot use Maschine 3 SW with S88 mk1.

    I have spent over 6 000 EUR on NI SW and HW, so far. And I am not buying anything new, be it SW or HW, till my S88 mk1 works. And it is built like a tank.

    In a way I should thank to NI, that they have decided not to support S-series MK1. It saved me from having to do decisions whether to buy SW upgrades and new shiny controllers, for handfull years on. I will stay on what I have now.

    There is no disputing the build quality or anything else from the MKI. But there is no current (or future) support for it.

    As long as you have an OS that supports KK v2.9.6 - your MKI should server you for years to come.

    Just because they were clear and upfront with this decision doesn't mean we have like or agree with it.

    NI have a policy to drop support with previous versions of software as soon as a new version is launched and it's not something that sits comfortably with me. I'm not talking about releasing new features for the previous versions, just a commitment to ensuring compliance with operating system changes etc. Also it's in NI hands just how long those previous versions of KK 2, Maschine 2 will be made available to download.

    Understood - but what's the point of continuing to bring it up? Like that is going to change anything?

    Pretty much every vendor does this. And it's been this way forever. Should not come as a surprise.

    That said…

    Do I like that Studio One v6 is now retired - just a month after v7 hit the street? No.

    Do I rail on about it on the Presonus forums (which are going to be permanently shut down on Monday)? No.

    Do I decide to speak with my wallet if it really annoys me? Yes.

    This is all you can really do.

    Or better yet - if obsolescence is a concern - do not buy it in the first place.

    If I had a dollar for every piece of software I've bought over the years that was obsoleted I could afford to buy a new house!!!!

    Of course they could always decide to make the software market like the car market and the older it got and the less useful it was and harder to maintain, it's market price would go up. Somehow I don't see that happening……..

    Lol, a strange comparison given that cars can and are kept supported over a very long time period of time. Even after a new model is released.

    If enough customers give their objections then just maybe NI may change that policy.

    As I said, I'm not asking for miracles, I think it reasonable to have minimal support regarding compatibility for a reasonable length of time when a new version comes along, that's all.

    No more to add to this.

    Well - my warranty ran out on my 2015 Highlander after 3 years - just like everyone else's did.

    Toyota hasn't supported me since Dec 2018. Didn't complain to them or stop using it either.
