Maschine 3.0 General Discussion

NI does surveys and questionnaires to appease the masses. Not to feed their roadmap. For 10+ years people have been telling them very clearly what they want. This info is available for any product manager to get in a few days.

Us: "What is this? An interface for ANTS?!"
@Diosgnosis: an ant "This looks fine, guys! :D".
No disrespect. I thank your kind for all it does for the ecosystem, but some of us are a few hundred-thousand times larger and need to be able to see Maschine on displays that would appear to you as horrifying eldritch entities, due to the size difference.5 -
just use the controller bruh, it still looks fine

Am I wrong, or is Tempo per Scene the only new feature that is available on the controller? All others seem to be mouse only. That won’t translate well to the M+.

Has anyone tried this with the "Machine Studio"?
I noticed they stopped support for the "Machine Studio" as well.

Impermanence wrote; There is plenty of room for improvement.
And now that people have paid for the software there should be more pressure to make them happen.I'm a little skeptical about that myself, I think the update price is fair for what it is but at the same time it doesn't inspire me with a lot of confidence. Because of it's low price there really isn't (IMO) that much pressure on NI to implement the new features we've been asking for, it feels a bit like a cop-out.

Still no midi plugin routing support ?

This update hurts my soul. I bought Maschine mk1 back in 2009, and it changed the way I made music. Upgraded to every hardware iteration up to mk3. But because of what's happening on the Komplete Kontrol side, I jumped ship and sold my mk3 earlier this year, going full Push 3 and Ableton Live.
Yesterday, when I saw that you went to 3.0, I got weirdly excited, secretly hoping for a reason to re-integrate Maschine into my setup. But man, am I glad my workflow isn't dependent on Maschine anymore. Calling this a major version upgrade is an insult to all Maschine users in my opinion.
The only positive thing I can say is that the upgrade price is fair. Just like 1$ is fair for a cheeseburger at McDonalds, but then again all you get is that McDonalds cheeseburger…4 -
I had high hopes…Each time I have high hopes…This time they finally understood…
And each time, it's a letdown…
On the pro side :
Tempo per scene is a very welcome feature.
Price is right for existing users.
Stem separation is…Well…A toy to me…But that's because there are much better tools to do that already avaliable elsewhere…But I can understand that it was a mandatory feature to release…Or can I ?
New midi editing tools…At last…12 years without them, I could have lived a bit longer not using them, I probably will…
Piano roll…Long due…
Bounce : nice, no more painfull workarounds…
On the other side :
I'm not impacted by this but I really can't see which revolutionnary feature had to drop MKII/Studio/etc.. compatibility…I'm not a software engineer so there are probably tons of technical constraints I miss here…Nothing commercial really…
Automations improvements, editing, recording ? Lfos, round robin ? Internal midi routing between tracks, from vst etc…? Per step probability ? An actual usefull use of massive colour screens ? Custom Chords ?
Noone really requested them I suppose ?
I'm really wondering how many users who answered the numerous surveys mentionned that " 8 Gb of paid new samples, kits and sounds" is what is missing to Maschine to really make it shine like it should…
Really, I'm wondering…
What could I make with all this new content I can't already make with the countless expansions, instruments and sounds already avaliable…If that's for "supporting the product", I can understand…
But I'm not supporting more samples/presets libraires…
Sorry !

Is that the truth, the plugin window isn't scalable inside DAWs? In 2024? Most free plugins offer that. That are the basics!

You never pay for new products with the promise they will get better. NI are clearly behind w the Maschine eco system.

Bought a Push 3 last year to move away from Maschine. DAW routing UX on Maschine should have had more attention. Also considering selling my Maschine MK3 now (supporting Drum Machine on Cubase 14 might save it).

Again a possible promise of features is not the same. They have not delivered on release day.

This update feels like some low hanging fruits where slapped into the software and a heavy contrast UI with bulky icons was smeared over it to make it look like a major update.
But all the previous flaws are still there and important features to use maschine standalone without any other DAW for any part of production are still missing..2 -
Because of the integration with Izotope and other brands I assume NI has gone through a tough period of restructuring so I'm very happy to see that products both hard- and software are release in a much quicker rate than months ago. So this is promising fot the future.
For now I'm happy with de M3 update because of the decent price point of €29,-. I hope this is the start of many updates to come because Maschine isn't there yet, still missing things, like using those big screens not for massive pluginnames but for actual informative graphics like EQ curves, Envelopes, Compressor gain reduction metering etc…
I've three questions:
1) @Kai_NI Is there any timeline that can be shared about when this is coming to Plus Standalone. Like before the end of year or something,
2) If I buy the upgrade now. Do I have to pay again for the Plus upgrade?
3) Am I right that this is just the beginning of a big Maschine regular update revival, can you share anything about what to expect in the coming months? Thanks! (And happy Maschine user here).
