How do you buy Traktor Pro 3? Can I please buy it?
Hello dear NI community, supporters & Native Instruments,
I have an ooold Macbook Pro from mid 2012 with the OS Sierra 12.10.3 installed. When I bought the Macbook, it was easily enough for using my Kontrol Z2 mixer and Traktor Scratch Pro 2 with vinyl control.
Now I decided to day to upgrade my software Traktor Scratch Pro 2 to Traktor Pro 3 because I was reading that OS 12.10.3 is still compatible with it. Unfortunatly, after having a hard time finding the install dmg file of Traktor Pro 3 on NI's website and installing it on my Macbook Pro, there is simply no way to BUY Traktor 3. There's no page for it and the Button that comes up inside of the first small window popping up after starting Traktor 3, saying BUY, will also simply lead to an empty page of nothing (with an internet connection working).
A few months ago, I was still admiring the Update option of around 50€ to update from Traktor Scratch Pro 2 to Traktor 3 but I thought I'd wait a little, until I have some more moooney. Now when life got as hard as it gets, I can't even make my self a little present by getting Traktor 3. I was reeeally very much looking forward to bUying this program.
So anyway…
Dear Native Instruments,
can you please intergrate the page again, offering the update from Trakor Scratch Pro 2 to Traktor 3? It's also not possible for me to upgrade my 2012 Macbook Pro to a OS 13. Highest possible would be Catalina but that's not the issue. I can't use Traktor 4 with my old stuff and ain't buying a new Mac, as I can't afford it to date aswell but Traktor 4 is the only one you're offering. Pleease let me buy Traktor 3!!!
Kind regards
Simon

Traktor Pro 3 is EOL so the most you can do is look for a used license.
But if you have Mac OS 12 then Traktor Pro 4 should also run, because that would be the minimum requirement for Traktor Pro 4.
Performance should be the same as Traktor Pro 3.
You can try it out first by installing the Traktor Pro 4 demo and testing it for yourself.

"I might consider getting Traktor Pro 4 then but would like to mention that that's not the actual fair, satisfying solution"
Respectfully - another not fair or satisfying solution is expecting any software company out there to support a 2012 era Macbook and a 2016 operating system here in late 2024.
If the company that sold this stuff to you - Apple - has no problem ending the life of your computer/OS so they can move on their next shiny thing - what are you expecting the rest of the world to do?
If you want to identify the true cause of your issue - start with the company that killed off your machine and OS.

Hello Heisenberg,
thank you for your response! So Traktor Pro 3 is still downloadable as a demo, when searched on NI's older versions but it's ended..? Why still provide a demo download, when no one can buy it? Just saying…
Kind of the issue I have with this is as described in my first post, Traktor Pro 3 Upgrade was about 50 €. Now Traktor Pro 4 Upgrade (Update) (which interface I less prefer btw..) is 74,50 €.
I find that a little much after already spending over 2500 € on my basic DJ equipment and having a lot of serious sound issues on Traktor Scratch Pro 2, with the sound randomly dissapearing, sounding like a soundcard burning out. Had me getting a headache a few times, just before having a DJ gig.
Nevertheless, your ideas are probably the only options left, unless NI would decide to put up the Traktor Pro 3 offer again, which I'm very sure a lot of DJ's out there would very much appreciate. I think it's always best to keep customers as happy as possible to maintain the highest income possible. That's how large companies became most successful on long terms.
Thanks again though Heisenberg! I might consider getting Traktor Pro 4 then but would like to mention that that's not the actual fair, satisfying solution.

UPDATE
I was mistaken with the number. What I have is Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6 and that isn't shown as compatible with Traktor Pro 4. Also, as I couldn't buy Traktor Pro 3, I can't update to 4 which means I would have to buy the full version of Traktor Pro 4 for 149 € but that wouldn't make sense as my Mac and OS is too old. So my Mac has had it for mixing with a new DVS software with my Traktor Kontrol Z2 mixer. Right?
I'd have to buy a newer Macbook with at least macOS12 Montery and the new Traktor Pro 4. Is that correct? That would be a bit unfair considering that recently, I could of updated Scratch Pro 2 to Traktor 3 for about 50 €.

@Vocalpoint yes, I agree. you're right. time goes by and apple is known for it… still a shame the Traktor 3 update is gone though…

…just looked it all up. even with Montery a second hand mac and traktor 4 would be at 800 euros more than just updating to traktor 3. 🤕 I'm giving up with this for now.

Yes you would. But if it were me - I would buy a new 2024 MBP (with a modern OS) and ensure that you have a decent window of support.
Buying someone's old computer just to sneak up the support line to Monterey is simply going to result in the reason for your post again in no time.
OS Monterey End Of Life is Nov 30, 2024 - 8 weeks from now.
NI will not be supporting this OS for very long as we move into 2025.

Traktor Pro 3 was available for 6 years though, and in that time was often discounted at 50%. So you had plenty opportunities to upgrade for only €24.50.

If support is running out anyway and no more security updates are coming, you could perhaps give opencore legacy patcher a chance, assuming a bit of technical knowledge, and don’t forget backups.

Glad I got the result I was looking for and I can stop looking for Tractor Pro v3 and just upgrade to 4 [I'm switching laptops and as a result the OS requirements for Traktor v2 don't align anymore].
I get it, why companies no longer support EOL software- but why? Think of how much older software, that is still perfectly usable for older, still functioning, non-obsolete computers is doing nothing. Forcing us on upgrade paths…
TIA
