X1 knobs just fall off / totally loose

Bizarre thing - I'm packing up my Kontrol X1 MK2 and just noticed the 3 big knobs literally just fall off, come off with zero resistance. Is this normal??

It's the same with the one I bought used. I thought the previous owner did something to it. Turn the unit upside down and they just fall off.

I have not done it yet, but my idea was to put a small piece of paper or maybe some glue on the stem and then put the knobs back on.

Same here. I tried to close the gap with some thin pieces of the card board - it works but messes up the teouch sensitivity feature.

I simply cut off a small piece of rubber glove and attached the knobs with it.

For those experiencing the same thing - I just purchased new encoders from djtechtools and that solved the problem!

But you can't use the 'touch'-functionality of the X1MK2 with the new encoders, right?

no you can’t but that was ****** anyway

I am happy you found a good solution, but it's worth noting that the touch capability will be gone this way specifically for users that want to keep it working.

On a side note, i would like to add that i own several NI controllers with a total of 72 touch sensitive control elements. Of those, two of the endless encoders are loose to the point of falling off as well. My guess is that the production error margins of those encoders is a lot smaller than for the normal ones. The X1MK2 (being the first of NI's line of DJ controllers with touch sensitivity) may just be the most error prone of them all.

On another note have any of you experienced this annoying bug within Traktor when browsing up and down your tracks? If I move the encoder quickly Traktor ****** the bed and starts scrolling right up to the top or bottom of the list. It is infuriating. Any ideas how to solve this?

Actually I have experienced this thing when I have used the X1 MK2 or S8. I thought this was the feature to scroll down faster in the long library? 🤔

That is correct, this way you can start scrolling from top of bottom of the list on the initial turn of the encoder.

I have this problem with my loop encoder knobs, they are well loose and I don’t know why ?

Does anyone know of there is a simple fix ? I thought there might of been something in the Preferences 》x1 Main but, there isn't. I am positive I use to be able to recalibrate them in Traktor Pro 3, but not in 4 it seems ?

Can anyone advise me on how I can firm them up within Traktor Preferences ?

What do you mean by "they are well loose"?

They hardware knobs are easy to rotate? Or like people in this thread, that they fall off / easy to remove?

Oh this is bad to read since im thinking of getting a x1 mk2 to expand the s2 mk3 capabilites.

Plus vendors here are shady AF

¿How can i tell which is good? Like certain serial number or batch or it's general?

I wrapped a tiny amount (1 round) of scotch tape around the potentiometer stem and pushed the cap on, it stayed very tight on afterwards and touch sensitivity still works.
