how to transfer NI from win 8.1 to win 11

here's the problem.

Native access doesn't work witn Win 8.1 any longer.

how can I transfer the tons of NI software from win 8.1 to Win 11 when NAccess no longer works with 8.1?

    Install native access on your Windows 11 computer, log in with your account and then you can download your products.

    And if you want to copy certain settings etc. to your Windows 11 then you can do that from your documents folder, e.g. Traktor for exempel has its settings in the documents folder.

    There are two options:

    1. Simply upgrade your OS to Windows 11 (all your existing files and installations should be retained/kept), then install Native Access 2 afterwards and log in to your NI account. Check that all your Install Locations paths are (still) correct. Done.
    2. If a fresh OS install is planned/desired, move all your Content stuff (i.e. Kontakt libraries, Expansions) to an external hard drive beforehand/first. Once Windows 11 is installed and set up, install Native Access 2, log in to your NI account and move your Content files into a desired location. Then in Native Access 2, change the Install Location paths in the Preferences accordingly. Next, use the "Locate Product Content" function from the Maintenance menu to relocate your Content files. Once done, you should be good to go again.

    Note that in the latter case, you will need to re-download NI software (Kontakt, Battery, etc).

    thanks for the quick reply.

    however… i've tried that.

    here's the other half of the story: i have my NI loaded on two computers. the 8.1 and a win 10.

    the 8.1 is going to be retired.

    so i want NI to remain on my Win 10 and transfer the NI on my 8.1 to my new Win 11.

    there's the rub. there is no place on my account to deactivate the ones on my 8.1 since NI Access no longer works with 8.1

    If I go to my account I'll see everything is available… but it isn't. if I load any thing down to my Win 11 it will load, but if I try to play it the NI product will notify me that I need to purchase it.

    i've been told by NI that win 8.1 is no longer being supported, so in essence it is stuck on 8.1

    and yes, i've tried every version of NAccess and it's a no go on 8.1 NI has really screwed users like me because there is no way i'm going to pay another couple thousand to put all that stuff on my Win 11.

    the final solution that i see is use NI on my Win 10. ocassionaly fire up the Win 8 that has Studio version 3 and just carry on into the future with Win 11 and leave NI behind.

    if you have any other ideas, let me know.

    Both the above comments gave you a solution. You do NOT need to deactivate anything in your Win 8.1, or do anything at all there (apart of copy some things you need from your Documents/Native Instruments folder, as suggested above).

    Just install Native Access in your Windows 11, download your software and install it. Then simply uninstall / delete NI content from your Win 8.1, or just format your old disk and use it as an extra storage, etc. etc.

    FYI:

    1. Win 11 will not install on a 2 core win 8.1 computer that is 9 years old. One can trying doing that but many win 11 functions would crash and win 11 would be very unstable.
    2. I tried downloading from NI on the new win 11 using NAccess. It will download but will not activate which means the product will either not work at all or will work for a few minutes then remind the user to activate the product.
    3. i've been informed by NI support that win 8 is no longer being supported by NI and they have no NAcees for win 8 any longer.
    4. i've been working with NI for over 9 years on win 8 and win 10. every other suggestion has already been tried.
    5. i will keep my win 8 as one keeps an old synth or guitar, and use it once in while. but as far as i;m concerned i'm done with NI. all of my other VST and samplers that are on my win 8 are smoothly transferring to win 11.
    6. after all the time and money i've spent on NI products i find their support in this matter is troubling. i am done with NI. I have plenty of other options.
