I have very recently upgraded to Komplete 14, is there a grace period where you can upgrade to version 15 without having to pay again.

Regarding grace periods, it's always best to get in touch with our support as it depends of dates of purchases, etc…this is where to get in touch: https://bit.ly/n1orders

Unfortunately, question on grace period often pops up whenever a new major version is released—you will not be the first nor the last to ask.

From observation of past postings, the grace period usually ranges from 1 to 4 weeks, and is on a case-by-case basis—you have to open a Support ticket.

Frankly speaking, rarely would NI announce the new major release within the possible grace period of the previous version.

I suggest that you continue using and learn the various software, libraries, and expansions bundled with your Komplete 14/U/CE, and wait for the Summer of Sound sale next year when Komplete updates are usually 50% off—don’t expect discount in the year that the new major version is released.

If you will like to see a comparison chart on what NI software, libraries, and expansions have been added, upgraded, and removed since Komplete 1 to 15, visit https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1FuwkqEc7CqMwjRVjgcy2KhJlkVl3jTT3Ze1RsVFvzC4/htmlview#gid=0

While you may be right it still doesn’t hurt to ask

Perhaps you can open a ticket with NI Purchase Support and give your Order or Invoice Number for them to consider?

I too tried, because i felt somewhat lured.

This is the answer I got:

Guess it won't hurt to try anyway, but don't count on it!

Well anything else would be pretty surprising as you bought with 50% discount during Summer of Sound sale.

I got an email from NI and it said this. “ An upgrade option will be made available for individuals who possess earlier versions of Komplete including yourself. However please be aware that there will not be any extra discount for purchases made in June. It wasn’t clear to me if they were referring to the $199.00 upgrade price already listed so I emailed them back to clarify that statement.

IMHO, grace period has never been more than 4 weeks/month. And official K15 release is end of October…. So, grace period may be at most for purchases made few days ago. Or, say, beginning of August, if the reference date would be start of presale.

No; USD199.00 is the normal non-sale pricing for Komplete Standard update to the next major version.

As somebody else already said, it looks like you bought your 14 during this summer's "Summer of Sound" promotion. They've never given a discount on the next version for that…you already got 50% off on K 14.

So also as mentioned above, if you have money to burn, you could upgrade, yes. And if you pre-order, they'll include that one free app (I don't remember it right now and I'm too tired to look it up), which is at least a $250 value.

But that upgrade to K15 will almost never be discounted except if you had paid full price for your K14 and not the Summer of Sound discounted price. So buy the upgrade if you want it. Whatever you decide, you've already done quite well, so congratulations on that!

Or just keep using K14 and keep learning it. It's got tens of thousands of sounds already. And they almost always have Summer of Sound each … (ahem) summer. 😏 So something to look forward to, I guess.

Few years ago I got free Update on heavily discounted (more than 50%) Komplete bundle. But I bought it within grace period before release of new version. That time NI explicitly expressed that there is grace period and it was already known new version is to come very soon.

I bought K12U CE for discount price and few days later, when K13 was released, received K13U CE Update for free.

And I was not the only one for sure. The thing has been discussed here on forum. And yes, I was happy to get current version of Komplete for half price without having to wait 3/4 year for Summer Sale.
