I saw a second hand S88 Mk1 at Guitar Center and the salesperson said he didn’t know if the person who sold them the S88 had deactivated the license. Is there anyway it can be authorized if the original had not deactivated the license. I have Komplete 14 so I don’t need any of the included software. Thanks!

Thanks for that info! Being that my computer is a MacMini M2 I’m assuming the old version of Komplete Kontrol won’t work on it

Thanks for that info. If that version of KK won’t open on my Mac Mini M2 then it wouldn’t make any sense to buy that MK1 s88

You do not need it to get it registered, if you do not need bundled SW (Komplete Select).

If you have the receipt from a store support can usually register it to you. @Jeremy_NI can probably confirm this. There are more details here about buying secondhand -

You need "activation" of KK S88 only to get bundled SW. If you do not need it, you do not need to register the HW.

Mind that S88 mk1 is not supported by Komplete Kontrol SW 3.0 and higher. You have to stay at KK 2.x, or use keyboard just as pure MIDI device. If ou are on Win probably not a great deal, for several years. On Mac I am not sure….

I have S88 MK1 and like it very much.

@ahutnick The last available version supports macOS 11 to macOS 13. Only VST2 and I do not know if it is only x86 or it has also AS port.

I have a MacStudio M2 Ultra running Ventura 13.6.7 with KK 2.9.6 and an S88 Mk1… if that's any help to you?

So KK 2.9.6 actually works on your Mac?

Oops what I meant to ask was does KK 2.9.6 work with your S88 MK1? I had read that you would have to use an earlier version to use S88 MK1. I do have the latest version and in the pull down menu for controllers it doesn’t have the mk1 listed only the mk2 and mk3

Yes it does. It's the last and FINAL version of KK that will allow full NKS and LightGuide use for the MK1 keyboards. NI have stated that there will be NO further support for the MK1 hardware - they've called time on it… which is another of their big mistakes as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks for confirming that! It’s too bad that NI won’t further support MK1 hardware. Jeremy I’m having trouble contacting registration support as I have not bought this second hand s88 yet and they want a receipt. Basically I just want to confirm that they can register it for me so I can use KK software on it if the previous owner didn’t transfer the license. I don’t want to buy it and have to bring it back.
