Is NI even paying attention to what Akai is doing?

They certainly cost a silly amount, just googled and found one for nearly £50k
It’s one of my favourite synths in Arturias V collection
Arturia’s version is also used by Native Instruments in their “How to use everything in kontrol as mk3” video at 35:25

As for NI paying attention to what Akai is doing… I'm sure they are, but NI is super slow and inMusic is pretty good at using their different companies to enhance specific products - like how AIR is developing FX/Instruments/Synths for NPCs. NI is not good at this. inMusic does this without regard for internal competition, so they don't have an issue putting Pads and Faders on Akai MIDI Controllers, the way NI does.
Lastly, Akai is a standalone-first developer who is competing very aggressively in pricing, and NI is pretty much treading water with their current product line… because they refuse to reduce the price of the PC controllers so that the Maschine+ can actually compete realistically against the MPC One+.
The Mikro is more expensive than the MPC Studio. The Maschine MK3 is almost the price of a One+ (though it is more comparable to the defunct MPC Touch. The Maschine+ - which is most comparable to a One+ - costs almost double the price of a One+. It is simply a very bad value vs. an MPC Live II that has better I/O, a Battery, Speakers, a Touch Screen, can Still Work as a Controller, Better External Interface and Controller Support and a SATA Bay for SSD Storage Expansion… All while still costing significantly more than an MPC Key 37, which is basically a One+ with a Keyboard (the S37 that NI users have been asking for + Standalone).
I'm probably going to sell my Maschine Controllers and get an MPC One+ pretty soon.
inMusic has been far better at utilizing the sister companies to enhance the products produced by them, as well. Maybe it's still "too earlier" for the "new Native Instruments," but I have been thoroughly unimpressed with the current "just throw a few things into the Komplete bundle" strategy they have been using thus far.
I haven't even thought about Komplete upgrades, and I don't foresee that changing in the very near future, and their hardware prices are hilarious considering how locked down everything is. I could never. I'd just buy an Arturia or Novation Controller.

You don't seem to understand what I mean.
First, I think it's natural to talk about the hope for future product upgrades in a product company forum. After all, this is one of the original intentions of setting up a forum.
Second, you seem to have assumed that the upgrade of the maschine software will bring additional costs, but in my impression, the maschine software does not seem to be an additional product. It always accompanies the maschine hardware. If you already have maschine 2.0, I believe that maschine 3.0 will not be charged extra, so I don't know what your assumption is based on. Stepping back, if it really brings more features that I expect, I am very happy to sell some other hardware to upgrade. And if it requires additional costs, people who think they don't need to upgrade can just not upgrade, right? I don't think a major upgrade of the maschine will harm anyone.
Third, I have used MPC, PUSH, but I still love Maschine the most. I really can't find fault with the existing workflow. I love this product very much. At least for now, I am not willing to switch to AKAI, which is why I am still using it and willing to discuss it in the forum. But still working does not mean that it should not be updated. For me, the highly requested features like the separate stems are great, but they are not the most important to me. What the maschine lacks is a complete and smooth audio editing function, as well as a truly convenient arrangement function. These are the core functions for me. With these functions, I don't need to export my work on the maschine to other companies' DAW software for in-depth processing, but can complete all my work in a complete ecosystem, rather than just using it as a creative tool. I don't know about others, but at least some users around me have the same expectations. If these functions can be realized, it will be perfect.
Fourthly, I know that the definition of a maschine may be just a groove box, and it may not be born to allow people to complete all the work, but now it seems that MPC3.0 can do this, so why shouldn't the maschine be upgraded? After all, the times will always move forward, and so will the products. Before the invention of the car, people thought that the horse was fast enough, but now do you see that there are still people who use horses as their main means of transportation? To make a perhaps inappropriate analogy, FL Studio was just a loop tool called Fruity Loop at the beginning, wasn't it? Again, I don't think this is damaging to anyone, so I don't understand what you're arguing with me or anyone else who wants a big upgrade. No offense, but your response in this post seems to me to be very lacking in logic and basis.3 -
Kore was discontinued 13 years ago (2011) after a 5 year production run (2006 release). The system was released before Iphones existed. You expect to still be using it? I think that is pretty ridiculous. 5 years is a fairly average product life cycle and considering the changes that took place in tech at that time I also think it’s crazy to be holding a grudge on that. I mean Korg released a $10k workstation at that time that they basically scrapped a few years later because plug-ins took off.

Imagine throwing away any other musical instrument after 5 years.
