Hello,

I'm new to the Native Instruments ecosystem and have a few questions:

  1. What is the difference between KOMPLETE KONTROL and KONTAKT 7?
  2. Does KONTAKT 7 support the KOMPLETE KONTROL M32 keyboard? If so, should I use it instead of KOMPLETE KONTROL?

Thank you for your help!

think of KK as a wrapper that can load NI and also standard VSTs. The M32 must be used with KK, the new S series MK3s are the first that can be used with KONTAKT directly. I have an M32 and a S88Mk3 and use KK with both.

Got it, thank you! What are the benefits of using KONTAKT over KK? The user interfaces look very similar, so I'm not sure what the differences are.

Probably just the interface. Because KK is oriented toward keyboard input there's a lot more facilities you have no access to just using Kontakt such as play assist or MIDI Templates. For myself I used to use Kontakt more often when I was physically recording certain tracks. Once pretty much all my tracks started being done through NI libraries on keyboard it made more sense to use KK. I still use Kontakt on occasion for example when I record a guitar track through my Helix or a live vocal recording. You don't have to just use one or the other in a given project.
