We have yet to be able to reproduce the issue, rather frustratingly (I believe that what you're seeing is very real). I have an M32 and an SMK2 both working with KK3.3 on my computer, and other internal setups as well.

Whilst we continue to diagnose, if it is in any way helpful, here is temporary access to the prior installers for KK 3.2.1:

Let us know if that resolves the issue temporarily. Thank you for your report and your patience.

    What went wrong:

    • Komplete Kontrol 3.3.0 shipped on 2024-08-01.
    • Komplete Kontrol 3.3.0 broke connection for some A, M and S MK2 keyboards (MK3 was unaffected).

    Why it went wrong:

    • In certain circumstances, Komplete Kontrol 3.3.0 was inadvertently ignoring NIHardwareAgent, a service used by A/M/SMK2 keyboards.
    • This service handles Komplete Kontrol's NKS integration for those keyboards, thus causing a failure to connect for affected users.

    Severity and Symptoms:

    • The A/M/SMK2 keyboards for affected users would still have functioned as generic MIDI and DAW Controllers, but experienced a failure to connect to Komplete Kontrol 3.3.

Please accept my sincere apologies for the incident.

Komplete Kontrol 3.3 was in beta for weeks, and passed all of our own internal tests as well –both manual and automatic. The variable that had to exist for the above incident to be true didn't surface until we released en masse to a much larger audience.

    Solution:

We deployed Komplete Kontrol 3.2.1 rollback installers via the Community Forum overnight, solving the issue for any user who we were able to reach and had prepared an email to send to all users today, had the issue not been properly solved.

The good news is… Komplete Kontrol 3.3.1 contains a fix, has been deployed worldwide and should appear in your Native Access 2 accounts already, or within minutes.

Could you please try the following?

    • Quit Komplete Kontrol standalone app, and any plug-in/DAW you have open
    • Unplug your keyboard(s)
    • Open Audio MIDI Setup, then go to Window and open MIDI Studio
    • In MIDI Studio, select the entries for your keyboard(s) and Delete them
    • Plug the keyboard(s) back in, wait for them to populate in MIDI Studio
    • Open Komplete Kontrol standalone application
    • Go to Komplete Kontrol Preferences, then MIDI, and select Kontrol S MK2 in the list

    Does it work now?

Additionally, if you are using a plug-in version within a DAW, which DAW and on which OS?

Could you open Activity Monitor (macOS) or Task Manager (Windows) and see if NIHardwareAgent or NIHostIntegrationAgent are running?

Also - a dumb question: have you restarted your machine?

I have the exact same problem with an S88 mk2.
The S88 is working fine in machine for example. In Komplete Kontrol 3.3.0 it is however not recognized as a controller. Midi does work, but none of the advanced features we would use Kontrol for.

    I'm on a M1 Max MacBookPro running Ventura 13.6.3.
Wether software nor hardware configuration changed afaik except the Komplete Kontrol update today. Things were working fine beforehand.
Both the Agents are running, I restarted everything and I did the thing you mentioned in audio midi setup, that didn't do the trick though.

I noticed however that there is no NIUSB driver listed under system settings. Is this as intended for the Kontrol keyboards? Or is this maybe the culprit, driver not getting loaded after update? Idk..

Anyway, now while you get on fixing things, how do we downgrade to the previous (working) version of Komplete Kontrol? That would be 3.2.1 I believe?

Same problem since the update. No solution works. In the KOMPLETE KONTROL controller menu the connected keyboard is no longer selected and remains grayed out. I think Native needs to do an update to correct this problem.

I got in contact with Sebastian from NI via the customer service ticket system.

It appears that you need a thing called 'Hardware Connection Service'. It's a separate piece of software that you can install / update via Native Access, you'll find it under the application category or by searching for it.

However for me this did not show up in Native Access. Sebastian was able to add it for me though.

Not sure if this is a general bug or if only some accounts are affected. Anyhow, if this is missing for you guys too, best thing is to create a ticket for it and have someone from support add it to your account.

    Hope this helps!

Thing is that service is meant to be for the MKIII series so it probably wouldn’t be showing for people with just a MKII.

However I am wondering if this is why some people are having problems getting their MKIIs to connect with KK 3.3? Something in this KK version that needs the new connection service?

The NI Hardware Connection Service is unrelated to A, M and S MK2 keyboards, which do not use or talk to that tool.

Posted to another thread about this problem, but this one has more in it… Same problem.

My S88 Mk2 no longer connects with Komplete Kontrol after 3.3.0 either. I tried reinstalling KK, switching USB cables, rebooting, etc. The Logic Pro X integration still works, and Maschine 2.18.4 also integrates fine, so it's definitely something in the KK build.

Happy to help debug or reproduce stuff if needed.

    MacBook Pro M1 Pro, 32GB (Sonoma 14.5)

In the meantime, I'll downgrade. Thank you for providing the installers above!

    Thanks!
