Modifiers across devices
I thought that modifiers worked across MIDI controllers… meaning that if you set M1-5 on device A, M1 = 5 on device B… the modifier setting was global.
However I just tried this and the modifier is now only linked to specific MIDI controller used to activate the modifier. Eg. Device A - M1 = 5, Device B - M1 = 0.
Did I remember this wrong? Or was there a behaviour change?

The modifiers are and always where local, not global.

Yes. Every mapping file uses its own set of modifiers. This is one of the reasons why complex mappings for a single device need to use several mapping files.

I will try to use same midi mapping with two different controllers. I think it should work. Just use different midi channels on different controllers within the same controller mapping.

Good for you. Glad you found the thread. I wasn't going to explain it again in this one. I think it's time for a sticky thread for 'Things that a really useful to know'. 🙃

But only per configuration. If you are using different controllers with different mappings, the modifiers will be "per mappings".
