Why Can I Only Select One Song for Stem Generation?

I understand that stem generation is a new feature and a work in progress. However, what I do not understand are some of the current limitations:

While the stem generation process runs in the background, it is possible to select another song and generate stems for it as well. The subsequent stem generation tasks are queued up automatically. This means that batch stem generation is effectively implemented, but the user experience is cumbersome and unintuitive.

Is there a reason for this design choice? It seems to unnecessarily complicate the process for users.

Its currently disabled and their might be a reason for that. (see patch notes)

It will be added in next updates for sure.

Not sure if it is really a design choice. Would consider this as bug that gets fixed in a later version.

    Known Issues

    • Stems waveforms initially not visible on D2 / S5 /S8
When loading stem files (associated or not) on the D2 / S5 / S8, the waveforms are not displayed (stripe is). With any screen interaction triggering a refresh, the waveforms are shown correctly.
    • Ozone Maximizer Settings not correctly applied to Mix Recorder
The Ozone Maximizer's settings are not correctly applied to the Mix Recorder. Make sure to check your recording levels manually.
    • Generate Stems disabled in Explorer Node
Stem generation is currently disabled in all subfolders of the Explorer Node.
    • Audio Interfaces with more than 12 channels
When using an Audio Interface with more than 12 channels it is currently not possible to select channels with a index above 2 for Deck A, above 4 for Deck b, above 6 for Deck C, and above 8 for Deck D. This issue will be resolved very soon.

"Generate Stems" is mappable. One thing you can do is bind to a simple keyboard key, then mash key/down/key/down/etc a bunch of times in the track browser. If you have a whole lot of tracks you could use Keyboard Maestro (macOS) or AutoHotKey (Windows) to automate it a little bit.

Pretty glaring omission of simple functionality here, NI! Please add this to track multi-select and folder/playlist both.

I guess there is a sound reason for this omision. Users report that if more than aprox. 50 tracks get into the STEM queue, Traktor gets to strange state… So, there is certain problem to sort out if many tracks are to be converted.
