Native Access download speed is so slow, and at some point "download failed"
I recently upgrade to Macbook Air M1 and install Native Access M1 version to install all of my products. I notice the same issue with some plugins with a huge file size (Session Horns Pro, Session String Pro 2, Noire in my case). When I started downloading, the download speed started to drop and it took about 1-2 hour to get only 1Gb. My latest attemp to download a 29 Gb plugin took 2 whole days 24/7 and reach only 26 Gb before download failed (I download a whole Logic Library 62 GB in less than 30min. on Wi-fi). Sometime it just randomly disconnected and paused download. I have to manually resume dowload several times. And when it was close to finish downloading (about 3-4 Gb left) it stucked there and "download failed" appeared. No mattar how many time I resume download it keeps showing download fail. Now these are the methods I've already try as NI suggested:
-My computer is Macbook Air M1, 16GB Ram, 1TB SSD and there is plenty of spaces left, OS Sonoma 14.5
-I use Native Access 3.11.1 Apple silicon(latest ver. on website), and even try the Intel Version, same result.
-I downloaded each plugin one by one. When one is failed, after several downloading resumed, I started another one.
-I download with my internet downloading speed approx. 900-1000 Mbps, on Wi-fi from start, on "HARD WIRE" from start. No different on download speed, both super slow and end up failed.
-For the "Download Failed" fixing method, I don't have iCloud+ so I don't have any access to Private Relay and turn it off.
-I try different downloading time to see if the amount of local internet uses is really affect, 8a.m, 7 p.m and 12 a.m, download speed is not different at all.
-All of my file locations are on default setting.
-I've already allowed NTKDeamon and NA a full disk access.
-I turn off firewall, FireVaults, and I don't have 3rd party anti-virus app.
-I didn't use any VPN or setup a proxy server. I only use a default internet setting.
-My mac is always on power adapter and fully awake while downloading, no sleeping, no lockscreen.
I don't have any problem downloading other plugin from other company, even with thier dedicate central installer, or even a bigger file size. I've already installed the rest of my plugins except NI and they're all installed within a few hours. I even try erased my Mac and install everything again. The same problem with NA is still not fix.

You don't mention it, but I assume you're downloading from your home address.
Possibly there is a bottleneck in the connection between your ISP and the Native Instruments server.
I'd suggest trying to download from another location (friend, neighbour etc) as the route between their ISP and NI could/would/should be different.
There's a service called traceroute that can be run to show data hops and responses over the course of the connection.

I'm not familier with a traceroute and I'm not sure that NA is downloading directly form NI website or not, so I just try traceroute to native-instrument.com and I got a result of 64 hops max and 40 byte packets. My IP address show 3-4 ms (not sure what the number suppose to tell me) and other IPs are showing 3-70ms. So is that tells anything about my internet connection problem?
P.S. I'ii try different internet connections later and will update if it works or not.0 -
Try using a VPN to connect to another N.I. server.
You can also try NATIVE ACCESS 3.8.0 (in case of a download problem then try log in to Google) . If V. 3.8.0 should help then please notice that the app will auto-update.

I've already try many of the earlier version of NA and still have the same problem. About VPN, I saw many answers, even from the official NI post, suggest NOT to use it, so I think that too won't help.

The VPN suggestion is for the same reason I mentioned in my earlier post, to give a different route to the NI server. You posted here for help, people are suggesting solutions. You should try them.

UPDATE : First I try using other internet connections, I use my workplace WiFi and LAN and it seem a little better, but still really slow.So I try using VPN like you guys suggested, connect to US location, and it seems to have a lot better connection!! Now my download speed is a lot reasonable and consistent. That mean using VPN can still be a solution for some cases, like me. But for some reasons many suggestions is not to use it.
Thanks a lot PK and PoorFellow for this suggestion. And sorry for not trying out in the first place. Now I have to try downloading the rest of my collection and see if it works!0 -
ISPs sometimes get sneaky and throttle anything they can identify as a download or content streaming.
By using a VPN, you're intentionally hiding from the ISP what you're actually doing. Some ISPs will then switch to a different throttling methodology, while others are not so sophisticated and will either throttle everything they can't identify, or they'll throttle nothing.
Throttling "EVERYTHING" they can't identify; that would be bad practice, because that will make their business customers angry. And that's the last thing ISPs want to do.
