just that I want the midi info of a pattern on one group to trigger the sound of another group
im guessing here,,,, but if you have the midi change enabled.. and have the scenes set to a certain channel, whether Note channels/PC channels you should be able to use the automation lane to trigger the changes…
but im just guessing,,, i havent tried it personally
goodluck!
No, you cannot, at least not without workarounds.
A Pad MIDI Out can be sent to another Pad but only within the same Group.
With that said a workaround on the computer version is to configure the Pad in Group-A to send the MIDI Out to a virtual MIDI Port, and another Pad in Group-B to receive from it; virtual ports can be made easy in MacOS without any external tools and with small apps on Windows: https://dialogaudio.com/modulationprocessor/guides/virtual_midi/virtual_midi_setup.php If you need this on the M+ standalone than I think your only chance is to connect the MIDI DIN Output to itself on the Input, for sort of a MIDI loopback solution.
Ive tried that but it creates a feedback loop it just to iffy
im just going to have to duplicate the entire kit I want alternate patterns on
the sequencer is the only real letdown for me with M+. a few tweaks and it could be great
Hum… Have you tried disabling "MIDI Thru" in the IO options?
What is your end goal? To have the same MIDI Data triggering a different drum kit at some point in the song? If that's the case then just duplicating seems a whole lot more practical.
to have different midi data triggering the same kit, its almost more of an organizational thing, for example if would like the patterns on group A to strictly be triggering the bass drum with a bunch of variations, group B percussion group C a bass tone etc all originating from one kit
so duplication the group as you mentioned might be the way to do it even if there is some redundancy there
Oh, to split sounds/pads that are in the same Group across different Groups. Yeah, in that case just duplicate and delete the extra Pad/sounds you dont need after you organize things.
ah ok didn't think of deleting pads. that makes sense
