Psytrance style kick and bass

Logged back on only to find this thread has completely blown up in responses!! 🤣
From what can tell, it's the resonant kick that seems to be the most iconic part of the drum and bass sound, with a little of the punch attitude. It seems to me that's fairly important to get right.
You can go the analogue program-it-yourself direction, or you can use another sample, it doesn't matter too much. You could even use samples that are completely devoid of resonance as long as you use the sampler/drum machine's own filter to add the resonance back in and modulate it with an envelope.
The sample of choice just needs to be fairly snappy and full range, as opposed to lofi vinyl sounding. If you would like something deeper, richer, consider a sub layer/sample to the mix.
The bass could also be analogue or sampled, that also doesn't matter, it's more about the notes the arp is hitting in this case. Although it is generally something more simpler sounding like a one or two oscillator Moog or ARP bass with a fast attack, I would just encourage that you be more inventive with it. Use another oscillator or two to inject a little something with character and interest. Just remember to leave enough room for the rest of the instrumentation though.
Try not to just do what's basic, here's enough mundane music out there. Challenge yourself to try to better. Try to something that's a little different, something that has a bit of character, that is a bit more unique, but not so different that end up making a completely different genre of music. 🤔🙃

Hey Humantree, are you using Maschine? Use the encoders with Massive. Amazing sounds messing with maschine knobs not computer mouse. I like Battery, and Prism alot, but I think the main reason I do is because I can manipulate the maschine and not the mouse. Just mess around and have fun making noises!!!!

Massive or monark are always good choices when creating bass

Oh, right. Well, that's something I've obviously completely missed.
Still, at least I'm talking about things from a fundamental point of view and don't refer to anything specifically. So it still translates. I just can't help too much with specific settings, though Machine+ would still be totally capable.

Some form of click has to be there for the kick. That is all I have to say. TRK-01 is good starting point.

new to this, where is Psytrance? kick bass?

Synthesizing your own kicks sounds less sterile for me than using already made ones (drum samples).

There is a great tutorial how to use NI's TRK-01 to make a really cool psytrance kick by Dash Glitch. It really helped me when I started out!
Apparently I'm not allowed to post links so head over to youtube and after the .com insert /watch?v=__rVK8lr8XY
Sorry about that!

The TRK-1 would be good to try if you haven't already.
