why the lock state is not working with effects?
The lock state snapshots are not working with effects.
If I take a snapshot and make a new pad and add an effect like reverb and update then return to the original snapshot the reverb is on both pads.
If I mute or solo on a snapshot these changes are remembered fine.
I can make multiple snapshots and update but every change in the effects comes onto every pad.

No - how should maschine know the state of you load the reverb after you press lock, if you want to have the reverb go away with pressing lock, just use the dry/wet as I said and save it's state on dry, then it will work too also with the simple lock Funktion - it's not working how you think it works, lock cannot remove a device, it just reloads all knob and switch states saved.

Think of lock states as a picture.
A picture can show you if a person has his arm up or down, but it can’t remove the person if he is there

Hello,
if you add the FX later after taking the first snapshot, it is of course behaving like you described. You can, after adding an gd later overwrite the first snapshot with the FX totally dialed to dry, if that's what you want for the first snapshot. Then it should work like you want. Or maybe I don't understand you correct here.

Hi Uwe, thanks for the reply.
If I record a sound and then press lock and then add a reverb I can listen to the sound with the reverb added. When I press the lock button again and go back to the original the reverb is still there.

This is normal. As Uwe told you, if you add an fx AFTER the first lock state has been set, that lock state doesn’t have any info on what state that reverb should be. So you have to edit that lock state by telling it how you want the reverb (on/off…or dry/wet).
A lock state isn’t adding or removing anything, just setting the state of all the parameters in Maschine when you create a new one. If you add variables after the fact, it has no way to know how those variables should be set, since you didn’t tell it.
It would be better to add things before setting the lock states, or, as said, to update the ones already created with the new infos

Yes of course like i said, if you add a fx after you save a snapshot it behaves exactly like you described, as expected. After you inserted a reverb, for example, and you don´t want to hear it on the first snapshot, just update the first snapshot with dry/wet all the way to dry. I tried it and it works.

Just not clear yet!
When I press lock and add a reverb I can now hear this added to the sound, but when I press the lock off to return to the original sound pre-reverb, this reverb should have been removed as it was not on the original sound, but it is still there.
This is just using the lock once no extended snapshots.

You’re welcome.
Once you understand how Lock states work, they are a very powerful feature…probably one of the most underrated…

It's worth noting that lock states remember the toggle for [bypass] in the plugin section which is the easiest way to switch things on and off
