Why are you so obsessed with projected timeframes? That's why they're projected, and not set in stone. That's how every project works whether it's software or building a house. Timeframes slip for any number of reasons not all of which are manageable from within a project. Example: supply chain problems, key employee decides to leave due to personal issues, etc. And if you or anyone else is going to feel disappointed by such things you might as well go live in a cave a long ways away from civilization where you can control most of your environment. Even then you'll be subject to floods and droughts.

The fact they're willing to share with us what they are attempting to do and roughly when they believe they can is remarkable and very considerate because it's not something that's very commonly done in the world of commercial product development. Especially in light of a product that's been redesigned and rethought from the ground up to support a brand new architecture that's pretty quickly becoming the dominant way of doing things in this day and age with shared processing between software and intelligent hardware. That's NOT an insignificant transition.

I say we be patient and supportive. My life isn't going to be terribly uprooted if priorities or timeframes change a bit. I can adapt.

DAW integration is possible with that good old mackie protocol (even new expensive controllers still use it) you have the base stuff similar on all daws, only the v-pot function keys are different in every daw, and functions are different, like cubase has a channel strip build in you can control with the v-pots, but it's not unsolvable, more a question of what do we implement fir every DAW amd what not, cause it's hard to have a whole mackie control in the mk3 - but as i said doable on one base - mackie protocol, of course it has also it's downsides with some daws maybe

I want DAW integration to be leaps and bounds beyond the past.

With 2024 hopefully being the "year of MIDI 2.0", NI will make this the backbone of DAW integration..

When mentioning deeper DAW Integration, I don't think NI is talking about a MCU or HUI integration.

When hearing deeper DAW integration, I am thinking more of using specific SDKs, Controller Scripting environments or specific usage of the interfaces from several DAWs with much deeper integration possibilities.

Like eg, the EQ curve can be shown on the display so controlling an EQ would be more HandsOn, or with controller navigation you can navigate on track level eg. effects and do basic controls.

I’ll have to investigate further, it may well help a lot, thanks.

What I am really after is the ability to say press Browse on the S88 and what’s on the S88 screen is mimicked on the KK software in real time in exactly the same way.

Yep, people ask for more information from companies, companies then give their roadmap, and as you say, more often than not things get delayed, then customers have a go saying “you said we would have xyz by June, it’s now August rant rant”

Then people wonder why companies are reluctant to give a time frame.

As I’ve said before, I would much rather companies released things when they are ready, rather than a buggy mess just to meet a deadline.

That would be of course much better and more 2024 like tech but way more work, let's hope they mean what you suggest with EQ curve, but anything else you can do just fine with mcu, at least with cubase, you can control all insert fx, sends (per channel or row), channel strip, EQ, Instruments, master channel and much more

Thanks, yes I can get it to do what I want, but it's a little clumsy in that I have to manually click on things in Komplete kontrol.

    I'll explain:

I launch Komplete Kontrol and it starts in Browser mode. Thic correctly emulates whats on my S88 screen, so I use my S88, I select" Form" and pick a patch and load it.

    My s88 now shows

    and Komplete Kontrol shows

    ——————————

On a side note, I can't find any way to select any of the 5 blue circles buttons in the above pic, the left hand blue button is highlighted. I can use the mouse to select the next one as per circled in red in the below pic, but I can't find any way of doing this from the S88?

EDIT: As @Uwe303 says in the next post, these are assigned to key switches.

    ——————————

So, on my S88 I now press the browse button, I now get the browse screen on my S88, but Komplete Kontrol still shows the above, I have to use the mouse to select "View - Browser" or if I've been doing other things, use the mouse to put Windows into Komplete kontrol and then press "B".

Now again like when I first started Komplete Kontrol, the software mimicks the browsing on the S88. I select "Flesh" and load an instrument" and I get

I can then use mouse and select "view - Plugin" (or press "i") and as you showed, I get a screen mimicking the S88 as per here

Now I press browse on my S88,

Again I have to manually select Browse in Komplete Kontrol, but it still remains in the "Plugin" screen too

and this time when it loads, it stays on the plugin screen

    So I'm nearly there.

I start Komplete Kontrol, I select the "Plugin" page and it mimics the S88.

Now all I have to do is press "B" on the Komplete Kontrol software everytime I want to browse, this isn't too bad but it would be very very nice if when I pressed "Browser" on the S88, the Komplete Kontrol software automatically went to the Browser screen too.

Sure it could be argued that if I'm browsing on my S88, I don't really need the browser screen on the PC screen, but sometimes I want to use muscle memory and look at the screen

Your example with FORM and the circles you can't reach from the keyboard - you actually can, those are key switches and if you press the right keys in the right oktave you can select them from the keyboard - same with FLESH or THE MOUTH and basically all instruments with key switches. And with the browser I guess that's cause if you first launch kk the first slot is empty so it shows the browser but of course it would be better if the computer monitor would mirror the browser too, also in my opinion, at least it should be optional, cause others maybe like it as it is now.

Doh, not used Form before, picked it at random when writing previous post, didn’t even think about key switches.

Probably had different coloured lights pointing this out on my s88 too.

    thanks

What you want is for the browser view in the software to be linked to the browser button in the hardware, I have argued there is a use case for that as you have shown, at the moment NI seem to favour them being decoupled, which there is also a use case for, but I think it should be optional.

In the old KK of course this is a non issue as there is only the one view

    Yes.

Something else I've realised, if I look at say the Irish Harp in plugin mode,

I can see at a glance that I need to press the page right button 5 times to get to the "Reverb" page, whereas on my S88, I don't have a clue which page is reverb, I just know there are 12 pages, hence it's quicker looking at Komplete Kontol software while changing pages than it is looking at the keyboard.

That said, I suspect NI will probably update it so when in Edit mode, we can use the top buttons on the mk3 to jump to whatever section we want, like we can with Arturias CS80

In my MK3 I have the latest Arturia Collection and I don’t see the instrument image splash screen. Am I the only one experiencing this?
