Machine+ as Standalone in Machine2 (not controller mode)

Hey Community

Once I saw a video that it works!

But how? I do not find the video again...

The M+ was in "standalone mode" but still everything was working connected on the Machine2 software.

So the M+ wasn't the "slave" ..

did I am wrong or is it possible?

otherwise I hav to download al the expansions .. and I wish it works on this way too..

but its than possible to use the expansions "gentleman2 etc. what is just usable via Machine2?

last .. why some stuff isn't working on the M+, and u have to use a PC..?

"everything" is impossible; but the M+ just like anything with a MIDi Out DIN can send MIDI, so some stuff is possible, the same stuff a generic MIDI Keyboard or Pad controller can do.

You do, theres no way around this. Unless you want to have to deal with a bunch of MIDI routing and then have to export Audio back and forth between PC and M+.

Because standalones by nature have limations, the M+ will never be able to do everything a PC can do, unless they make one as expensive as a modern computer, then it would cost 2000$.

I use my Maschine+ like that too. I have the same couple expansions installed both on my computer and M+; This allows me to just copy the projects from the SD card to my computer in STORAGE mode, and the projects open up perfectly on my computer.

Only important caveat is, you must have complete software version parity between your computer and the software running on M+ standalone for projects to work on both platforms seamlessly. Right now, the most recent software versions on both platforms have parity, but this is not always the case. You need to be careful with updating Maschine applications on both platforms if project interoperability is important to you.

I mean, I can use all the expansions that are on the SD card and M+ and are connected to machine2.

(iv you swoop to controller mode, I only can use the expansions I had download on the machine2)

All actions that I do on the M+ controller are visible on Machine2.

understandable?

what's the better idea? download every expansions/files on machine2 and use the machine plus as controller?

but than I do not need the standalone anymore

As far as I understand you want to use the M+ as an external sampler / sample player / synth and control it from a DAW (in this case Maschine software) on you PC. Besides that you probably want to control the software by using the M+ as a ‘standard’ MIDI controller.

In that case you shouldn’t connect the USB cable, but the power supply (PSU) and the MIDI in and out cables. Do you have a MIDI interface connected to your PC? Connect the MIDI in and out. If you have an audio interface connected to your PC, you could also connect the audio in- and outputs of the M+.

Configure the M+ as a standard MIDI controller in your DAW. Additionally route the audio in and out.

Maybe there are some simpler and better solutions, but this is what I can think of.

I connected and download everything on my PC yesterday.

I had the feeling on my MPC ONE- I didt had this kind of limitations, maby its just "a thinking and not a knowing" or the MPC is "stronger" (is it true or its just guessing form my side)

But yea, im happy with the quality of the communication between hard and software.

Still its not DAW anymore - I need a PC to get everything out of my M+.

But the possibility's are amazing.

I enjoy to use the instruments they provide on Kontakt 7 - so good to know.

bcs. iv I switch to standalone- I can't use them and the will not be played iv im trying to start the track.

Yes, unfortunately Kontakt 7 is still not supported on M+ standalone. You need to resample to audio any Kontakt 7 stuff you do on the computer, if you want to later use it on M+ standalone.
